Planning my place of origin has seemed to be a difficult task. Living in a town I feel no connection to yet been raised in my whole life has proven that place of origin doesn't have to be physical. What my origin may be is the person I have become due to what I have consumed.
Film and music are two of the most important things to me. Using my favourite albums and films as inspirations might exactly be my "place of origin". Though, there needs to be a common place. I plan to transform my room, my house, and my neighbourhood into my mind palace of all my favourite media.
So, I created a little mood board. Drawing from the colour plates from films like I Saw the TV Glow and Lady Bird as well as albums covers from Boygenius, Phoebe Bridgers, and The Cure. There's also a few shots that I love and want to try something similar with.

Got back my final printed photobook. Think it turned out well but there are areas where the print shop has not cut the images correctly even though I added bleed and crop marks.
While editing I think some images were stronger than others, but I like how the digital book turned out. I had issues with the print shop printing my images too dark on 250msg uncoated paper, and though I corrected them I’m still not 100% satisfied with the prints. It was a shame I did not end up experimenting more with physical elements of the photobook to make it more like my museum archives inspiration.Â
Overall I do like the final output.

Made a file version with only my photos and lightened them all and had them printed again. Did a test print with the file I thought I fixed, which was still dark, and the lightened version which looked very similar when printed but the quality of both were better. Took them to Rodrigo to ask for advice, he pointed out there was a visible difference to the lightened version and it was now just up to preference. Got all my photos printed, put in the blank pages, and gave it to the print shop to bind for me.

Went to the print shop to get my photo book done and the colour and quality of my images were unfortunately very degraded. Was very concerning and overwhelming and I had to leave and regroup, but now I have more information, though I don't know how to fix those issues. Also for some reason it altered text unlike previous exports. Was around $40 and that was without the binding.
I can keep the pages that printed well to use in final. In places where there are double sided pages I have removed them to optimise the file and the cost, and they will let me put blank pages in before binding.
I can edit the photos again to make them lighter but I really think it was a problem with exporting to adobe express and converting to cmyk. Could possibly make the photobook A4 if that saves the quality. Will go back to the print shop and test 1 image, if it prints bad I will make it myself.

With the Cannon 90D camera from the library I took some more object/close up/still life images to fill in the gaps of my project. Working on layout and sequencing, I've got it to a place I mostly like just some sections in the middle aren't as strong.
Made some intense changes from mock up to final project. Fell out of love with the idea of text (commentary, poetry, quotes) and decided to go for minimalistic. I think it really paid off, really proud of the work I've accomplished. I also ended up with a couple bonus photos to make the printing process run smoother. YAY SO EXCITED TO SEE HER PRINTED.
The thing I struggled to figure out the most was the cover. I wanted something minimal, I didn't want to have one of my photographs, but I wanted the cover to make sense for the contents inside.
Rodrigo had the idea of making it a cd cover or dvd cover, after toying with sizing I landed on a VHS. The ratios are a little more A4 friendly and it worked well having solid colours.
I tried my darnedest at making the title appear as though it was sharpie. Implying that inside was self recorded tapes of all my favourite cinema and music videos.
