#med rep

I mentioned on this post that I wasn't able to attend the initial screening at GSK the first time they texted, I definitely regretted it but I know I can't just make it knowing I will only commute and that my legs are sore, well not just my legs, my whole body that is since I am from a career fest. I've been submitting my resume at GSK for almost 2 months and I only heard from them that time and I don't know if they will ever contact me at all. But alas after 14 days, they texted me again! Yeey! And they invited me again for a screening which I excitedly prepared for!

September 24 - I received their text asking me to attend the initial screening on their office at Makati the next day.

September 25

The initial screening and exam. I am coming all the way from Bulacan and I am going on my own this time. I just brought my corporate attire because it's too uncomfortable to travel on a skirt and heels and just changed on the mall near the office. It's my first time going on there but I never had a hard time looking for it anyways. I am at the office by 1:00, my appointment would be at 2:00 pm. I made friends! And we chit chat while waiting like we knew each other for a long time! At past 2:00 we we where asked to go to a hall with seats like on the cinema, we were 30+ on that batch. By past 3 pm, the HR comes in, asks for our resumes and TOR and called us one by one to introduce ourselves and asked a few questions. Some people are trying too hard or too confident that makes you want to flip a table or do a facepalm! I will give sample conversations.

HR: Why would we hire you?

Applicant: Because I think I am the best person for the position.

HR: So do you have any idea about what a Med Rep?

Applicant: Uhmm.. actually, I don't have any idea.

So okay? Best for the position when you don't have any idea what are you going to do? IRONIC HUH. After a good hour of introduction and blah blah blah, the HR said that we will be having a exam. It is a 50 item IQ test that should be answered in 12 minutes, talk about time pressure! You don't have to answer everything, just answer as much as you can! It's rpetty hard! No it is really hard, you have to think a lot before you can come up with the answer so I usually skip those I can't immediately answer! 

It was 4:00 and I haven't had lunch yet, we were asked to wait for 30 minutes for the HR to check our papers so we used the time to eat! Good thing, they had a cafeteria inside it's just that they don't have rice meals anymore since it's 4:00 already! I had spaghetti though.

After eating, we went back to the hall and then the HR called names and was asked those people that she called to transfer to another hall, I am one of the people she asked to transfer. As I am entering the hall, I saw some papers she checked and saw a score of 13 and it's from someone she didn't call, I just had the vibes that we passed the exam so I am giddy happy! When the HR came in the hall, she fooled us by saying. "We regret to inform you ... that you passed the exam" uh, she got us there! If you can only hear the loud sigh of the people on the hall when she said regret! Hahahaha after that, she gave us a pre-employment form to fill up and some essays. She also gave us a paper where in we should go online and answer an online assessment thing. And was asked to wait for their text for the Panel Interview, she said that it could be anytime between now and October 22 which is the start of the training. She also said that we should expect the text/call to be a bit longer because of the number of applicants!

September 27

I received a phone call from an unknown number. I am sleeping that time and I woke up because of the phone call hence the mood. I answer it but no one is speaking so I ended up the call. When I ended it up, that's when I noticed the number, one of the friends I made during the screening said that GSK employees numbers usually starts with 888 and I saw the number, it's the same number that texted me so I immediately texted it again! After a minute or so, she called me again and then asked me to attend the Panel Interview the next day at 9 am!!! I immediately said yes, I think I am lucky since my friends haven't got their schedule yet. I got mine after 2 days! Cool!

September 28

My schedule for Panel Interview. I am glad that the mall near GSK is open by 8:30 so I was able to change there! Yeey! Ohh I haven't talked about my MRT experience yet, I bought stored value ticket worth 100 just to skip the long queue it was worth it anyways, I made it on time!

We where ushered to a different part of the building and was asked to wait at the lobby. The dsitrict managers who will interview us isn't there yet so we have to wait for hours, I waited for 2 hours for my turn gee!

I was assigned at the Dermatology department and was interviewed by 2 district managers both male 1 aged 50+ and the other one 30+. We just run through my resume, the employment form and yada yada, they asked me seriously a lot of questions about myself and I am my not usual attentive self, mind that they ask questions in tagalog so I answer in tagalog. I even  feel that they like me and are impressed by me, I mean, I am not just saying this to be proud of myself it's just that you can feel it if they wanted to talk to you or hire you eventhough I don't have a lot of experience with interviews. But the turning point is just when they mentioned the place I will be assigned. It should be anywhere in the Philippines that I dread. I don't want to be very much away from my family, I am not just that ready! I ended up being assigned at Tacloban at Vizayas and I am from Luzon. So to cut the very long story short, I didn't get it.
