We Are: Strangers | Acquaintances | Casual Friends | Close Friends | Intimate Friends | Partners | Family | Old Friends | Estranged | Rivals | Enemies
I was torn between Acquaintances and Casual Friends, but decided that Jancis would really value Maril for her achievements and their time on that cursed island, brief as it was it’s very impact-ful. So she thinks of Maril as a friend, even if it is one-sided.

♦ What I Most Admire About Them: I really admire Maril’s ability as a healer! She has a variety of skills in it. To manage an entire building devoted to the healing arts and the other end of being hands on and keeping someone alive through the worst of conditions. For all I have seen and experienced, there is a lot of inspiration to draw from her work.
♦ Something Physically Attractive: Have you seen her smile? At first look it appears to be quite small. But it is really spread over her face. The eyes soften a bit, her eyebrows level out just a little. Cheeks lift barely and her face becomes this warm happiness that would trick only the keenest of eyes.
♦ Something Mentally Attractive: We have not spent a great deal of time together. I have had a small glance of her sense of humor and that was very nice. I sang such a silly song.
♦ A Memory of Them: I remember the look on her face over Captain Orenji. The concentration on that island amidst all the cannon fire, the determination in that puddle of blood. I wanted to stay with her so badly in that moment. That I could leave more than what energy I had with her and be there should the man live or die. That vision still come to my mind as vivid as it was physically. And she did it. Matron’s Grace, she did it.
♦ Something I Wish They Had: I do not really know her well enough to have a proper idea. I hope she still has the drive to accomplish what others would break down from. That is something all healers hope to keep is the ability to keep working despite failure. Failure in our lives is death. I believe she still has it, but it is a something to always think of to keep it that way.
♦ A Change I’d Like to See in Them: Again I know so little of Lady Maril. Maybe this is more from myself because of our common work. I hope she does not give too much of herself. Any giving plant or tree needs time to grow and rebuild between giving, less it be nothing left. But that is only a guess.
♦ What I Think They Think About Me: That I can sing, maybe. I must be confusing. Because she has seen me in natural places and then in formal circles from Ishgard and now around the Jewel and the East. Understands the ability to be in many locations. Or it is something deeper where she is a healer and I am a healer, and she thinks about that as a reflection of herself. Like I have.
♦ What I Would Do for Them: Come if she asked for help. Maybe what better I can do is ask her for help when I am in need. I think I would like to find another useful stone for her. She seems to like them.
((Thank you! This was super challenging because Maril is so well known of, but isn’t really known by Jancis. It’s a very much an acquaintance perspective, but the size of some of the events they’ve been around is a mix of being friendly and really being grateful for who Maril is and what she’s done. So much of Jancis’ opinion is presumption and a perception of herself instead of who Maril really is.))
