Ewwwww
So my hospital recently decided that people with multidrug resistant bacterial infections (mrsa and vre) won't be in contact isolation abymore, and will be allowed to walk the hallways. I want to send in my resignation stat. This means that now we are all at higher risk of catching and spreading these bugs. Just...why????? Because now they can have physical therapy walk them in the hallways. I understand that they need exercise n stuff...but I also understand that we nurses also have transplant patients who are given drugs to lower their immune systems. Let's just face the fact that not all healthcare professionals are very diligent with handwashing and preventing the spread of germs. All I can see in my head is the little drug resistant bacteria being spread on every possible surface and then onto me and my patients. It sickens me to the core. I will be bringing home bacteria from work to my babies. Just. Kill. Me.
