It had been a very long day and Sirius can already feel the exhaustion taking over his body. They had an encounter with the Death Eaters earlier in the day then they went to The Burrow to regroup and plan for their next action. They had dinner while the women especially those who are pregnant namely Alice, Lily, and Molly talk about the woes of having a bigger belly amid a war. Sirius looked at Marlene who are among the females and he tried to look at her reaction and expressions regarding the topic.

The blonde laughed and teased her friends and Sirius can’t help but smile. She’s like a bright flame, providing warmth and light at these dark times for him. Yes, the war was tiring, each face off with the enemy gets more dangerous as the days pass, and Sirius can’t help but think about their future. “Hey…” He approached Marlene as soon as the cozy dinner ended and everyone is getting ready to leave the safe haven that The Burrow provides.

She looked at him with that bright blue eyes of hers that never lost its mirth. “Hi, ready to go?” He nodded as reply. “Yeah, do you want to stay at my place?” Sirius asked standing in front of her. They had been going out since they left Hogwarts years ago but they’ve never settled down like their friends did. He never really know why and she never did ask. Maybe it was because they were too busy protecting everyone and righting the wrongs in their society that their personal lives took the back seat but seeing her tonight among their friends made Sirius realize he needs more of her. Not just during the raids, not just during meetings, not just when they were both too tired to go their separate ways after a day’s work.

"Hmm, sure. At least we’ll just apparate to a single place. They’re hot on our heels and it’ll be safer to just go over at Grimmauld Place." She said nodding her head as she weighs how it’s beneficial and practical for them to just stay at his house. Sirius wounded her scarf around her neck carefully to make sure she won’t get cold once outside. "Well…I…" He begun not sure how to tell her that he was not just talking about tonight. "You guys coming?" James asked as he passed by preventing Sirius from completing his sentence.

"Yeah…we’ll be right there." Marlene called out to James who went to aid Lily as the redhead stands up in order to go to the door. "Come on…" The blonde told Sirius as she tugged on his coat. Sirius frowned, he never was the best in asking things like this but he wanted to. "Marls…wait…what I’m asking is if you want to stay with me." Marlene looked back at Sirius questioningly. "And I answered yes, I’ll stay there tonight as it’s safer." Sirius shook his head. "No, no, not just tonight…Marlene McKinnon, I’m asking you to move in with me. Stay with me, not just tonight. Stay with me as long as you can love me in spite of this war going on and my silliness."

Marlene stood there stunned. Everything felt like it stopped for both of them. Sirius waited for her answer and Marlene waited for him to laugh and tell her he was joking but nothing came from both of them. Their friends saw the weird tension between them but they didn’t comment thinking they’re having a fight of some sort so most of them just went on their way to leave. “Say something…” Sirius finally managed to croak out. “I…uh…are you serious?” Marlene asked then immediately rolled her eyes knowing he’ll take it as a pun like he always do. A mischievous smile crossed his face. “You know I am.” Marlene glared at him. He raised his hands in surrender. “Okay, okay, I’m serious. Marlene McKinnon, move in with me. I’ll love to have you by my side all the time. Please?”

Hi!!!!!!!!!!! I know I've been gone a long time, but I'm back and I’ve had a bleak time without Blackinnon keeping me preoccupied!

I've been cranking out Blackinnon oneshots like it's my job lately.

(This oneshot is set during the time that they're in the Order, pre-Marlene death.)

The night is the only time they're themselves.

Outside, they wear their masks.

He brushes things off with jokes and profanity, with hollow laughter and an empty smirk.

She keeps things out with insults and seeming disregard for emotions, with unfeeling eyes and a refusal to cry.

At the end of the long day, they go to Sirius' flat.

She tugs on one of his soft, old shirts, combs her hair a little, wipes off the black liner around her eyes vainly.

He comes back from the other room, and they collapse into bed together.

His arms encircle her.

They talk about everything and nothing, their ideas and thoughts and opinions and observations floating around in the quiet darkness.

They're honest. Their voices are bare, giving away the pain and despair and fear and anger inside them.

She talks him about her family, about her four brothers and her father, and how she desperately wants to protect them.

He tells her about his mother and father, about his cousins, and how he desperately wants to destroy them.

They both talk about how things are getting worse, how they hate watching their friends die around them, about how afraid they are to kill. About how lucky they feel they're not dead yet.

He buries his face in her long, blonde hair, trails his hands up and down her soft skin. He wants to memorize how she feels, the sound of voice, her smell.

Her hands thread through his wavy black hair. She presses her head against his chest. She wants to listen to that heartbeat forever, to know that he's still alive.

And in the night, they escape.

“I was thinking, if it’s a girl, we could name her after your mum.”

Sirius looked up from his copy of Which Broomstick? with a startled expression on his face. “Are you mad, McKinnon?” he asked, setting the magazine aside. He stood up from the battered armchair that sat in the far corner of the small flat they shared and crossed the room. “I hate my mum,” his face turned sour at the mere mention of the woman. “Hell,” he continued, taking the seat across from hers at the round kitchen table, “You hate my mum.” At that, a sliver of approval crept into his mischievous gaze.

Marlene rolled her eyes and placed her right hand firmly over her stomach. “Not your mother, Black,” she condescended. “Your mum.”

Although Marlene seemed perfectly at ease with her five-word explanation, it left Sirius feeling both confused and suspicious. “If this bollocks you’re speaking is in any way related to your being knocked up, then pregnancy clearly does not agree with you.”

As he spoke, Marlene observed her abdomen with a look of wonder; as he finished, she regarded him with an expression of deep disapproval. “You complete arse,” she deadpanned, “I was referring to McGonagall.”

“Minnie?”

“Minerva, yes,” Marlene specified with an arched brow. “She’s the closest thing you’ve got to a real mum— well, besides Dorea, but I’m quite partial to ‘M’-names.”

He gave her an appraising look as he began balancing on the hind legs of his chair. “Minerva Black…” he mused, peering out the kitchen window, “I like it.”

“Minerva McKinnon,” she corrected him.

Both Sirius and his chair clattered to the kitchen floor halfway through the word pardon.

“If you think I’m forcing your shoddy name on my child, you’re bonkers.”

“You’re not even going to check if I’m alright?”

Marlene peered over the top of the table and found Sirius sprawled out in front of the refrigerator with a wounded expression on his face. She couldn’t help but grin at him. “Alright, Black?”

“Oh, I see how it is.” He sat up. “You’ve no problem completely disregarding my first name the entire time we’ve known each other, and now you’re going to forget my last name as well.”

“Glad to see we’re on the same page.”

Marlene’s oldest siblings, Magda and Magnus, were twins.

On the day Marlene was born, there was a blizzard. Her mother called it a bad omen and her father laughed. He didn’t believe it until, at the age of three, she was refused a chocolate chip cookie and started a windstorm in the kitchen. He took to calling her Hurricane Marlene. 

Marlene’s only sister, Magda, had no time for her when they were growing up. She spent most of her time with her two older brothers, Magnus and Michael. They taught her the ins and outs of mischief, blokes, and most importantly, Quidditch.

When she was first sorted into Gryffindor, Marlene was terribly disappointed. She had hoped to be placed in Hufflepuff with her eldest brother so that they could make late-night trips to the kitchens.

By the time she reached the girls’ dormitory on her first night at Hogwarts, Marlene’s disappointment at not being placed in Hufflepuff had completely faded. She had already made quick friends with two of the girls in her house, and she couldn’t picture a better place for her than where she slept between Lily Evans and Dorcas Meadowes.

When her parents refused to buy her a pet for her first year at Hogwarts, Marlene began collecting chocolate frogs. She named each of them after the wizard card inside and began forging a one-sided bond with them until a snobby third year ate one. McGonagall gave her two weeks of detention for hexing the girl and secretly bought her a real pet; a fuzzy orange cat Marlene named “Fabius Watkins,” after her favorite Quidditch player.

The day she found out that Dorcas’ parents died, Marlene hid in the back of the library and cried. She rarely spoke to Dorcas about it; she was far too petrified of losing her own family to bring it up.

Marlene was the youngest of her parents’ four children until her third year, when her mother unexpectedly became pregnant with their fifth, a boy they called Martin. Despite her claimed hatred of babies, she and the youngest McKinnon became fast friends.

James Potter was the first boy Marlene snogged. It was their third year and she positively hated it. Under the impression that all snogging was bound to be as unpleasant, she refused to do anything other than hold hands until six months later when Dirk Cresswell asked her on a Hogsmeade trip. From that moment forward, snogging became one of Marly’s favorite hobbies. (She decided not to tell Lily that she and James snogged.)

The first time Marlene noticed Sirius Black (really noticed him) was during their third year. His younger brother called her a blood traitor and a bitch, and Sirius not only punched Regulus in the face, but came to Marlene and apologized on his brother’s behalf. Because she had always been so close to her own family, she knew how hard it must have been for Sirius to be so alienated from his.

After three and a half weeks of perfect bliss (constant snogging), Marlene broke up with Dirk Cresswell in favor of playing the field. She patted him on the shoulder, ruffled his hair, and offered him a half-hearted, “It’s not you; it’s me.” It was the most serious relationship she had until her sixth year.

When Lily and Dorcas asked Marlene “why in Merlin’s name” she broke things off with Dirk, Marlene flicked her hair and told them that Dirk was too immature for someone with her emotional depth. The three of them spent the remainder of that year’s Hogsmeade trips gathered at Hogsmeade Station, trying to meet “older, more interesting men.”

The McKinnons were known throughout the wizarding community for their annual Christmas Party. Each year people showed up in droves to celebrate the holidays beneath the twinkling chandelier that hung in the McKinnon’s emptied-out dining area. Mrs. McKinnon would hang garland from every surface and enchant twinkling baubles to hover high above the dance floor. Marlene’s father bought her a new dress for every party.

The first time Marlene got drunk was with Dorcas Meadowes during her parents’ annual Christmas bash. They were both fourteen and decided to smuggle a bottle of Mrs. McKinnon’s mulled mead into the backyard. After they finished the mead, they wandered inside and shared a bottle of sherry. Mrs. McKinnon suspected nothing until they wandered, giggly and disoriented, back into the party. She grounded them both for the remainder of the holiday.

When Sirius told Marlene that he’d lost his virginity to “a fit muggle bird” over the summer holiday, she felt a bolt of disappointment surge down the length of her spine. She had always thought that they might be each other’s first. Later, when Dorcas asked if she was alright, she snapped, “Of course I’m all-bloody-right,” and stormed away.

The first time Marlene smoked a cigarette was after a huge fight with her mum. She stormed out of the house and wound up running into James outside, smoking. He offered her a cigarette, and she choked on the first puff. When he laughed at her, she gave him a determined glare and choked the rest of it down. She was hooked from then on.

The first time Marlene snogged Sirius Black was in the middle of a row during their sixth year. Sirius’ x-rated escapades hadn’t gone unnoticed by Marlene, and her serial-snogging hadn’t gone unnoticed by him, either. Instead of moping, Marlene decided to make Sirius jealous by dating a seventh year, and, rather than let his true feeling be known, Sirius decided to sabotage them. When Marlene found out, she was so livid that she sent her fist into his nose; Sirius retaliated by kissing her full on the mouth.

The second time Marlene snogged Sirius Black was after a Quidditch match. The entire common room was abuzz with celebration, and no one noticed their laced fingers as they snuck up to the boys’ dormitory. Afterward, they agreed not to make a habit of it. They sealed the deal with a kiss and may or may not have wound up snogging all over again.

Marlene always thought of Remus Lupin as her fourth brother. Although she knew him to be exceedingly bright and perfectly capable of caring for himself (and his best friends), she always felt the need to protect and defend him. Most of the time, she felt as though she were returning the favor; she couldn’t count the number of times that Remus had gone out of his way to protect and defend her.

Marlene lost her virginity to her brother Michael’s best mate, Amos Diggory, in between her sixth and seventh years. He left immediately afterward and they never spoke of it again.

The first time Sirius asked Marlene for exclusivity, she ran for the hills. (x)

When he asked her a second time toward the end of their seventh year, she straightened his tie, kissed his lips, and headed toward the portrait hole, calling, “I expect my boyfriend to walk me to class,” over her shoulder.

Marlene got properly pissed at Lily and James’ wedding and attempted to serenade the newlyweds with Celestina Warbeck’s “A Cauldron Full of Hot, Strong Love.”

Marlene found out she was pregnant the same day that Dorcas was killed. For the first time in her life, she would have to face the world without her best friend, and she wasn’t sure if she was strong enough.

I'm not a big fan of AU but I can't think of anything else for these two...what if Marlene never died? And what if Sirius never got sent to Azkaban...and the correct traitor got sentenced instead?

That means. MY OTP COULD HAVE LIIVEEEEDDDD. so I feel like making edits and stuff. omg somebody stop me. I should just make a brand new story but I thought about these two right away.
