Remus and Mary had gone to the library after class to work on a project they’d been partnered on. They made a good team, but it was starting to get later and they both knew a party had started in Gryffindor tower. Mary had finished her share of the work, but Remus was insistent on rewriting his paper for a third time.

“Come on Re,” Mary poked the boy's arm with her quill, “We should be out partying with the homies.”

The sound of a good party danced around them, music swelling and loud laughs cracking from various corners. He stood against a wall of the Gryffindor common room next to Mary, both of them holding some form of alcohol. He let out a short laugh to let her know that he didn’t believe a word she said, and smiled wryly.

“Oh, please, Mary, you’re far from innocent. And I’d reckon we’re the ones doing the raising,” he said, amused, as he watched Marlene and Sirius from across the room. Their elbows were interlocked, both of them chugging what seemed to be about their seventh and ninth beer, respectively, though most of it seemed to be leaking down their necks and onto their shirts. “The joys of parenting.”
