working on chapter nine where they finally all get together. Had to take a breather before I could even finish the chapter. It was too steamy. I'll finish it soon.

The Last Men

Chapter Eight

Rodney, Radek, Teal’c and young Jack made their way up to the Jumper bay. Daniel wanted to come with them but Jack told him something to the effect of “over my dead body” and pulled him along behind the medics. Rodney smiled to himself, reading between the lines with them. So that’s what Jack meant by “they’re on the same team” or rather who Jack meant it about.

He knew they’d need to get back soon. He wanted to be there when Carson woke up and was worried sick about Evan. He was glad Carolyn was in charge. She seemed well equipped to handle her dad.

Rodney stopped suddenly, remembering they were deep under the ocean.

“What is it?” Radek asked in worry.

“The bay doors might open but…we’re under water. It’ll flood the jumper bay if we open them, right?”

Rodney was starting to panic. How would they get the data he needed on the Lantean Sun if they couldn’t even get out of the jumper bay?

Took me a minute but here are snippets throughout the chapters. I haven't been actively working on it but I'll get back to it when Uprising is done.

McLornka moment:

“Love you too.” Rodney sent him a soppy grin.

He bent down, kissed Evan’s temple, picked up John’s black duffle already packed and headed out the door to catch a cab to the airport. If anyone could pull some strings and get them back to Atlantis, it was General O’Neill.

Rodney's college lecture:

“...And since a wormhole can only exist in the space between two black holes, trapping anything that gets caught inside with no way out, the theoretical possibility of wormhole travel or artificially creating wormholes is not only a preposterous concept but ultimately goes against the laws of the natural universe –”

Rodney's conversation with clone!jack:

“Sam,” Rodney’s mouth hung open and his lower lip trembled. “I tried to tell her not to go. She’d been working on getting the Phoenix up and running for weeks. She was exhausted, running on fumes by the time it was ready. God, I tried to stop her, Jack. I really did. I’m sorry.”

Rodney's conversation with Hermiod:

“Thank you, Hermiod. Anything you could give us would be a huge help! I, I only wish there was something we could do for you.”
