Tearing up (in a good way) right now because someone's commented on every single chapter of one of my most polished fics (as in proper planning, actual editing, and entirely too much research kind of polished).
And the comments are all long comments reacting to different parts of the chapter.

For the kiss meme: Evan Lorne/anyone you'd like; #28...as a lie.
ahhhh okay this was REALLY fun to write thank you so much for this suggestion!!!
28- As A Lie
It wasn't the first time Evan had to pretend to be in a relationship off world.
It was relatively common for a society to request some sort of committed couple be the ones to enter the sacred holy grounds that were some sort of Ancient ruins.
It was, however, the first time he had to pretend with McKay, much to both of their dismay. The scientist had been rather vocal about his objections, but Colonel Sheppard was too busy doing off-world recon and the Ancient database said there could possibly be a ZPM here- and McKay was the only one who knew what to look for.
"Look, this isn't ideal for me either, but it's not that big of a deal. Didn't you say you were an actor or something as a kid? Just think of this as a role or something," Evan said after 20 minutes of listening to McKay complaining on the hike to the village.
"Oh yes, the role of a lifetime, playing a happily-in-love-to-a-marine-grunt idiot, how thrilling, Major," McKay scoffed, and Evan rolled his eyes.
"We'll be at the village in less than 10 minutes, and they're expecting a happily-in-love couple, so get acting, Rodney," Evan emphasized his name, giving him a pointed look. This time McKay rolled his eyes.
McKay- Rodney- must have taken his advice to heart, because as soon as they were in view of the village, Rodney took hold of the hand that wasn't casually resting on his P-90. He didn't look at Evan, but there was a slight blush raising in his cheeks. Evan smiled.
They greeted the welcome party, smiling and exchanging pleasantries as they were escorted to the Sacred Ancestors Temple.
"Please, before you may be granted entry, the Ancestors request an offering of love," they had said, and Evan knew this would be coming. They were briefed on it by Teyla, who knew of this planet and their ways. Still, it didn't stop the chill that ran through him. He just hoped Rodney would be a good enough actor.
Evan smiled softly at Rodney before leaning in, expecting a small peck, but suddenly hands were on his shoulders and he was being pulled in and Rodney's lips were on his, passionate and deep and fucking magical. Evan lost himself in the kiss, in the feel of Rodney's body against his, fireworks exploding through every inch of him. When Rodney finally pulled away, Evan couldn't catch his breathe, and desperately wished he could lean back in for more.
"We're finishing this when we get back to Atlantis," Rodney whispered, a dark look in his eyes that made Evan shudder, and maybe it started as a lie, but Evan was sure this had just become real.
The state of music in 1989 series is, primarily, about young Rodney and Evan in 1989 before they become who they are later. BUT, I have spent so, so much time about how they'll think about it later in life. So, uh, here's a thing that's been on my mind but isn't actually a WIP (is this cheating? who cares).
The CD player the maintenance crew had rigged up in the hanger was a great idea, right up until one of Rodney's songs came on. Evan missed a step and completely lost the thread of the conversation with the other pilots.
"Whose ghost did you see?"
Evan shook himself, coming back to the present. "My ex... hated that song, and every time it came on the radio I would be treated to the most magnificent rant about the state of popular music."
The guys nodded, made some comments about how he was better off without her, and he just smiled to himself, thinking about the brilliant blue eyes, mobile mouth, and flashing hands that had so entranced him the first night he'd met Rodney.
đLollipop, ba-boom, boom, boom
Uhhh, so everything but John sucking on a lollipop left my mind, so I wrote a thing for a WIP that only existed in my head! It's for the series I wanted to make after writing Release Your Burdens where all of AR1 fantasizes about each other, but no one actually makes a move (at least so far). So here's some Rodney POV:
He directed a good 15% of his anger and frustration budget that afternoon toward John Sheppard and his lollipops, sparing a few minions the full force of his wrath and/or annoyance. The way that infuriating man sucked, and licked, and practically fellated that lollipop while Rodney was trying to make a point. When Rodney felt his train of thought derailing for the 8th time that day, he threw his dry erase marker down and declared he was going for a walk to clear his head. He walked as far as his quarters and locked himself in, knowing there was only one way he'd be able to focus for the rest of the day.
đž Man's best friend
Gotta give you some crow!John for this. The crow who is yet to be named John is establishing his friendship with the colorful Dr. McKay:
His new favorite game was to take the shiny bits out of the little bowl the man would set up every single time he started taking some mechanism apart. By the time McKay was shoulders deep in a new machine, the bowl would be filled with options for him to choose from, and if he got caught before choosing his prize, McKay would swear even more when his wings knocked the bowl and its contents to the floor.

Summary: As far as dates go, it maybe wasn't the best one. But Evan just wants to spend some time with Rodney.
Read on AO3 or below!
With a shiver, Rodney stamped his feet and shoved his hands further into his pockets. If heâd realized heâd be spending the majority of the mission standing around a cornfield, watching Dr. Parrish wax poetic about propagation, heâd have never agreed to come along.
The supposed generator that had required his specialist skills had taken about three minutes to repair, and even the most numb-skulled engineer from the SGC could have managed it. What a waste of a day.
Behind him, he heard the crunch of frostbitten leaves. Evan appeared beside him and pressed a warm mug into his stiff, frigid hands.
Inside was a steaming, golden liquid. Rodney leaned in and inhaled. It smelled sweet and spiced, like cloves and cardamom and something a bit sharper.
âWhatâs this?â Rodney asked skeptically.
âMulled cider. The villagers make it from those weird pears in the orchard we saw earlier.â
âAre you sure-â
âIt doesnât have citrus in it, Rodney.â Evan interrupted. âI checked myself. Asked them multiple times, and taste tested. You know Iâm careful.â Evan leaned just a bit closer, bumping his shoulder against Rodneyâs.
Rodney took a tentative sip, and let out a small moan as he tasted the warm, syrupy sweet liquid. It was just lightly spiced, but the flavors tasted of autumn - bonfires and cold mornings, clear skies and golden leaves.
âGood?â Evan asked, his eyes crinkling in a smile. âCareful with those noises, weâre on a mission, I got to keep it professional.â
âHa. Ha.â Rodney took another sip, blowing on the cider a few times to cool it off. âItâs pretty good. I mean it isnât coffee or anything, but itâs restoring feeling to my fingers.â
They drank quietly - Rodney still marvelled by how easy silence was when he was with Evan. Not needing to fill every second, prove his brilliance, justify his presence, it was new and strange. But Evan calmed him; he loved him quietly and steadily and Rodney found himself relaxing into himself a little more each day.
In the distance, Parrish was gesturing animatedly to one of the farmers, while Lt. Coughlin looked on, but the field was kind of peaceful and pretty, especially once he got the feeling back into his extremities. He could hear birdsong in the distance, and the sound of the farmerâs children playing nearby. The sun was edging low into the sky, casting everything in a warm glow. Golden hour, Evan sometimes called it.
âLook at the clouds. Itâs a beautiful sunset.â Evan pointed out, leaning close to Rodney.
Shades of gold and pink streaked through the sky, and for a moment, Rodney could see the whole vista, the waving fields, the burning sky through an artistâs eyes, through Evanâs eyes.
âIt is,â he agreed, and let his hand drop to discreetly squeeze Evanâs. âAlthough cider and sunsets aside, Iâm still not entirely sure why Iâm here. The villagers hardly needed my expertise.â
Evan drew away a bit and rubbed the back of his neck. âI, uh, specifically requested you for this mission. Trumped it up a bit.â
âWhat? But- why?â
âWe havenât seen a lot of each other recently, and I thought it might be nice to spend some time together.â
âIs this meant to be a date?â Rodney spluttered.
Evan shrugged.
âIn a freezing cornfield? With Dr. Parrish and Lt. Coughlin?â Rodney asked, dumbfounded.
Evan glared. âLook, itâs not like I can take you to dinner and a film. Just thought a change of pace from MREs and your laptop might be a good thing.â
âHey- no, Iâm sorry, ok. This is nice. If a bit cold. But, uh the cider is great and citrus-free and we get to enjoy some fresh air, and the field looks really pretty in the golden hour.â
Evanâs face softened. He glanced around, but Dr. Parrish, Lt. Coughlin and the farmers were in the far end of the field, and occupied with something in the dirt. He pressed a quick, sticky kiss to Rodneyâs mouth, leaving him licking his lips, chasing the taste of cider and Evan.
âMaybe next time you can bring your sketchbook. And maybe we can come when itâs just a bit warmer. But uh, when itâs still pear season. This cider is pretty great.â Rodney smiled, and felt just a bit warmer when Evan smiled back.
âItâs a date.â
They watched the sunset, just a while longer, before Rodney gathered their empty mugs, and Evan went to drag Dr. Parrish away. Rodney took one last look at the golden field, at Evanâs retreating figure, drinking in the details, the cold smell in the air, sweetened by the scent of cider.

That awkward moment when you realise that you're the one who's written the longest fic on Ao3 for a particular ship...
Or that your other multichap fic for them is one of the most popular for the ship (in fact, the most popular when you look at fics focused specifically on them)...
