The thing is, the back traces have always been absentminded. Oscar does it without thinking, and Lando receives it the same way—welcomes it, without question. “Yes,” Oscar says simply. “It’s Miami." Lando breaks out in a laugh. “Jesus, you’re desperate for a race, aren’t you.”

Or: A birthday card, an Instagram comment, and lessons in respect.

When his master sends him on a solo mission to fly around the Outer Rim and protect some rich bloke from the Core, he's frustrated, but he might wind up learning a bit more than he expected from his time with Lando.

weight of the earth by @justsyyknow (187.3k, ongoing, rated e) ingredients: folklore genetics au (so good!!!), predator/prey, macrophilia summary: Lando's a folklore geneticist fresh out of his PhD. He bums around his shared flat in Berlin, goes on mental health walks, gets stoned regularly, and tries to convince funding bodies (and himself) that his research is worth supporting. Oscar is a rising star in the world of motorsports who accidentally discovers himself to be the carrier of a previously unknown, but seemingly very dangerous Gene, which could easily end his career and potentially a few lives. Fred, Lando's roommate and Oscar's friend, may have a solution to both of their problems.

Highly presumptive of him. "Yes," Oscar replies, curt. Lando steps to the edge of the fighting ring and gives Oscar a once over, his piercing eyes making Oscar's skin itch. His hair is matted to his forehead with sweat and his loose, grey tunic smeared with dirt, yet the prince moves with the unmistakable poise of nobility, leaning on a fence post as comfortably as he might over a palace balcony. "You're taller than I expected," Lando says in assessment. "Do you spar, Oscar?" "Yes," Oscar responds, even more terse. All noble sons are given a practice sword as soon as they learn to walk, no matter how peaceful their realms claim to be. To have no skill in sparring at his age would be an embarrassment. His irritation goes either unnoticed or unanswered as the corner of Lando's lip raises into a sly smirk. "Does my lord speak any words other than 'yes?'" Oscar simply shrugs in response. He will not rise to the bait.

zero cycle by @evilgustofwind (60.8k, ongoing, rated e) ingredients: minecraft speedrunning au, driver! lando x speedrunner!osc summary: Lando attaches the blushy, pouty photo and sends it, then locks his phone and drops it onto the carpet beside him, staring up at the ceiling. There’s a pause, stretching suspiciously long. A faint click echoes through the call. Mute. Then unmute again. “Sorry,” OP says when he comes back, his voice rougher now. “Thought someone was at the door.” Or: Lando loses an F1 championship and signs up for a charity Minecraft speedrunning tournament to cope with his existential crisis. Turns out his coach, faceless speedrunning champion OP81, might be a bit of a fanboy.

love you out loud by @nyoomfruits (10.5k, one-shot, rated t) ingredients: office au, fluff, valentine's day, idiots to lovers summary: “We are playing spin the bottle,” Charles says. “It is very good team bonding. I feel very bonded to my coworkers now.” “Because you were making out with them?” George exclaims, outraged. “Well,” Franco says, with a shrug. “Not really making out. More like. love pecks. Collegial love pecks? Aside from Lando and Oscar. They were definitely making out.”
