Deeper coral reefs experience reduced temperatures and light and are often shielded from localized anthropogenic stressors such as pollution and fishing. The deep reef refugia hypothesis posits that light-dependent stony coral species at deeper depths are buffered from thermal stress and will avoid β¦
ΒΏIs it true the mesophotic reef refugia?
As we said in our previous publication, the refugia hypothesis is still debatable and controversial. We need ecological, genetic and evolutionary analyses to support it.
Here we want to share one publication at the Caribbean Sea, presenting the unlikely climate change refugia scenario of its MCEs (Smith et sl. 2016).
