I just realized that not once during MCA did we get to see Haruka and his sketchbook (unless you count the shot with it laying with Takane's headphones in the opening). That makes he sad since the fact he draws is one of his strongest defining features. Heck, they even only offhandedly suggest that he'd draw the designs for the headphone actor game and it isn't touched upon again ever. *sigh*
Covered lots of important plot points I felt needed to be covered
Shintaro waking up with the eyes and realizing what happened in the past timelines - is that what his power is supposed to be? I loved and was thoroughly creeped by the outer-sciency image renders of Kuroha and the dead kids and Mary resetting things.
Finally the anime shows why Ayano died
I think I can take the scene better knowing that Kano was overhearing a conversation he wasn't meant to, since the novels made it seem like Ayano did it deliberately with Kano there
I'm laughing because I remember how when ep 9 aired there was a post floating around suggesting that since he's seen Takane naked, Kano has probably seen Haruka naked too, AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE TRUE.
Holy shet confirmation those headphone things on Konoha's ears really are removable. I mean I always personally thought they were but couldn't be sure. Of course the question is now how do those things even stay on.
Good to see how and why the kids left home.
SO MUCH GOOD DIFFERENT CHARACTER INTERACTION HNNNGGGHH
I really loved Kido and Kano's conversation where they started Mekakushidan 2.0. I loved getting to see Kido in the transition stage from how she use to be to her leader-like persona. Kido was adorable and Kano was so encouraging.
Also enjoyed the Seto-Kano-brotherly-comfort scene. I loved the part where Seto was trying to pay his respects but then Kano was all "yeah I already said that". It also really got me when Kano yelled at him "Why don't you just use your powers on me then!?" Kano really was at his limit :(. It's true that Seto always could have used his powers to find out what Kano was hiding. I'm glad Seto was there for Kano.
Side note, Seto's lisp/verbal tic is adorable.
Mary and Konoha are adorable albino buddies together. I'm so glad they made it down there without a hitch despite them being both so clueless. And holy cow Konoha that jump. Side note, I wonder why it always looks like Konoha's activating his power when he uses his superstrength, even though we know his power is supposed to be just recreating his body
AHHHH Takane's in her body again! Although I noticed her personality is still Ene-like. I like knowing that her personality traits will probably be a mix of the two.
GODDAMMIT, I already was really into the KanoTaka(Ene) dynamics ,but the scene of Seto and Kano running up behind and then alongside Takane now makes me want to also ship KanoTakaSeto. I WANT TAKANE TO HAVE A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH SETO NOW. PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN IN THE NOVELS OR MANGA.
Shintaro actually looks pretty cool as he greets Ayano. The reunion was really touching and I love how the scenes paralleled the first ep. Also I noticed that Ayano's daze does in fact look like the school building from which she jumped.... albeit really broken down. THough that makes me wonder how Shintaro ends up in her daze.
Negative and questions.
Way too many scenes felt rushed and stilted, which is the consequence of stuffing so much in a single ep. I feel it did some of the more emotional scenes a disservice. Specifically the flasback with Ayano and even the Kano-Seto scene I felt could've stood to have been a little longer.
Why the heck did the Daze show itself when Ayano hadn't even jumped yet? That made no sense :/.
I'M KIND OF WTF THAT KENJIROU PUT TAKANE AND KONOHARUKA (yeah I'm calling him that)'S BODIES IN THE SAME TANK. LIKE. THE SHIPPER IN ME IS GETTING A HUGE KICK OUT OF IT BUT AT THE SAME TIME I'M GOING I DON'T KNOW IF THAT'S SANITARY OR ALL THAT CONVENIENT.
It's also kinda bugging me that while Takane's body is in fetal position, Konoharuka's body is floating with arms and legs all lax. It makes it so obvious Takane was only put in that position for censorship purposes.
I'm thoroughly confused about how Shintaro ended up back in his home, and why the snake has Ayano's voice (not to mention his powers in general) and why if Shintaro has had his power all along, then how come Kuroha kept failing at bringing all the snakes together?
I'm a little disappointed they didn't actually recap the other timelines a bit more. Although again, no time for that.
Was it REALLY NECESSARY for Shintaro to kill himself with a pair of scissors again? What is with these kids so willing to give up their lives for reasons they aren't even sure are going to work. I'm dissatisfied. I actually DID think Shintaro would have to die again, but I always thought it would have been Shintaro taking the bullet for Kuroha, like in LTM. Now where does that scene even fit into all this?
What on EARTH did Kido and Momo do to produce that psychedelic illusory concert? Kido at full power should make things completely unnoticeable, not shine like a beacon. If anyone should be able to accomplish that it would be Kano.
I recognize the time constraints but it really does bother me that Takane's able to run so perfectly well after having been a floating cyber-being with no legs for two years. Not to mention her BODY was out of commission for that long too and should have muscle atrophy.
Also where the heck did she find her school uniform? And why is the sweater with it when she died in just her summer uniform? I honestly think a hospital gown would have been more believable.
How did Kano and Seto get down there so fast!? They were like, at least a couple of miles away it looked like.
I'M SO UPSET THERE WASN'T KONOHA-TAKANE INTERACTION DESPITE ALL THE OTHER EXCELLENT INTERACTION. HOWEVER I'LL LET IT SLIDE FOR NOW SINCE THE EPISODE WAS SO JAM PACKED THERE PROBABLY JUST WASN'T ENOUGH TIME.
Speaking of which I am concerned about how much they're going to have to stuff in the last episode *sweats*
I love Ayano, and I want her wish for everyone's happiness to come true, but I really don't want her to actually come back, because it subverts such a major theme of moving on, particularly because so many people are held back by her memory.
