Sanfo and Jorge (small vent in Keep Reading)
I have no idea how the hatred toward my country started, and I don’t want to believe that it was actually the Israelis themselves who created this massive hatred, but during these past few weeks, while the World Cup was going on and Argentina was winning its matches, many people have believed the things that non-Spanish speakers were saying about us on social media (about racism, xenophobia, etc.).
These people assumed that our entire country was a living hell for people of different races and ethnicities, when that’s simply not true. In Argentina, we allow foreigners to receive both healthcare and public education for FREE, we’ve never shown hatred or attacked people on the streets for being different from us, we’ll always welcome them with open arms (though you have to be very careful because security is an issue and the chances of being robbed are high).
Don’t go saying it’s because Milei supports Israel. Argentina’s governments are questionable, no one wants to vote for the presidential candidates, but WE’RE FORCED TO VOTE STARTING AT AGE 16 because otherwise WE’RE FINED. The fines can be paid, but do you think it’s right that a young person with no knowledge of politics has to be forced to vote just because no one else wants to vote for the candidates? Besides, we aknowledge that Israelis are burning our forests to get lands, and we’re out there hunting them down, yet they still call us “Israel 2” just because of the president we have… We’re against Israel, and we’re HUNTING THEM DOWN so they’ll get out of our country.
Every day I go outside (I’m an Argentinian living in Spain), I’m scared. It’s not the first time I’ve run into racist and xenophobic people targeting me on the streets. I’m afraid they’ll beat me up like in those videos where a lot of people are beating up a single Argentine. People have said a lot of horrible things to me ever since then because they hear me speaking with my accent, and I’ve just had to ignore them.
It’s awful having to put up with people like that because of the things they believe on the internet. I can’t even speak anymore in the streets, who knows what might happen to me…
That’s why I’ve been on a little hiatus these past few weeks. I’ve just been hanging out on Discord, talking to my friends so they can calm me down and help me relax, because it was impossible not to see posts on social media about violence against Argentines or the lies they were spreading about us. I want to believe that you guys don’t see my country that way just because you’ve been reading those lies.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my Sanford and Jorge. The reason I stopped drawing him was because years ago, a group doxed me for drawing him fat when he’s actually a strongman in my HC and since then I've seen people mocking my drawings of Sanford and putting them through AI shit.
Back then, I was afraid to draw him again because I didn’t know what kind of trouble I might get into if I kept drawing him that way :(
