          swallowing thickly, a look of hesitation takes ethan’s features, giving insight to how anxious this was making them. “uh-- y’know, i really like our banter every time you come in. i’ve lived here five years and i’ve been too afraid to make, um, to make friends and--” they stammer, throwing themself off. in their eyes, they had one chance to deliver this with as little resistance as possible, but of course they fucked it up. “i was wondering if you wanted to go to seashakes sometime? i swear i’m not trying to pick you up or ask you on a date-- i just really dig your company.”

Even when it was colder, Connor didn’t mind spending time on the beach. He swapped swim trunks and sandals for sweaters. Kind of that “Martha’s-Vineyard-Meets-the-Kennedys” kind of look. Typically, he would find himself alone on days like this. However, whenever he caught sight of another person, he’d merely smile. If they wanted to chat, who was he to turn them down?
