Today is the 5 year anniversary of my #drawingaday project! I drew a little charcoal glacier as I daydream about a second summer in Alaska. . I have been a little more lax about #drawingaday (and def posting way less) over the last couple years of grad school - basically, just making something with my hands every day, less about strict drawing. Even though I have been doing less traditional drawing and painting in my overall practice recently, this daily exercise is still a solid and underlying part of the rest of my work. I started the project when I lived in a teeny tiny apartment in NYC, working a full time design job (I thought I would do it for a month and post on instagram to keep myself accountable), and it slowly progressed to me pursuing a full-time career/life as an artist. . Feeling a little daunted about what my next chapter will be, but grateful for this simple thing that has carried me through so much. I’m sure I will be making a lot more small drawings and paintings soon, as I enter post-grad life - potentially without a studio space and probably a bit more transitory.
