SOUTHERN WHITE TRASH Working a metaphor for Mayor Mamdani – for New York City. President Donald J. Trump, Sr. is a trash collector....
The overall city budget also establishes a "Cultural Stability Fund" for struggling arts organizations.

Thank you @nycmayor and the @nyccouncil for making this historical investment in NYC artists and cultural institutions.
Early in his campaign, I learned that Mayor Mamdani's mother is acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair ("Mississippi Masala," "Salaam Bombay!," "Queen of Katwe"), and heard him speak about how this fueled his deep connection to and appreciation for the arts.
As a Black arts advocate, I am glad that we have a mayor who is committed to making the arts accessible for all New Yorkers, affordable for artists to live here, and to supporting small, community-based arts & cultural institutions.
Reposted from @hyperallergic @nyculture “Our city’s artists and cultural institutions are the beating heart of New York City. … But a crushing affordability crisis has threatened to drive out the very artists who have long defined life this city. My administration is proud to make a historic, record-level investment in New York City’s arts and cultural organizations because we believe the people who make this city what it is should be able to build their lives here.” — Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani
The City’s Fiscal Year 2027 budget includes a historic $323.8 million for @NYCulture—the highest-ever appropriation of funding for arts and culture in NYC! 🙌
For the first time, the budget includes a Cultural Stability Fund to support struggling arts organizations. The initiative provides a $10 million annual pool through fiscal year 2029, serving as an emergency resource for cultural organizations and artists.
“At a time when artists and cultural organizations have been asked to do more with less, this budget says something powerful: New York believes in the arts and in its artists. Arts and culture are how we tell our stories, care for one another, and shape the future of this city. I’m incredibly proud that we’re choosing to stand with the people who make New York the creative capital of the world.” — NYC Cultural Affairs Commissioner Diya Vij

🎭👏🏿 #ArtIsAWeapon One of the main reasons I was an early supporter of @zohrankmamdani for @nycmayor was his deep passion about the arts, understanding of its transformative powers, and vision for a more affordable New York City. A little more than a week into his term, he's working with the @utrfest to do just that by giving away 1,500 free tickets for folks to enjoy select theater performances! Bravo Mr. Mayor.

Image 2 and caption reposted from @utrfest Under the Radar believes in @nycmayor‘s vision for an affordable NYC for all. in solidarity with the city of New York and our extraordinary community of partner venues, we are proud to be able to offer 1,500 free tickets for many of our performances to the general public.
Images 1, 3 & 4 and caption reposted from @nyculture “The arts are too often considered a luxury for the wealthy or a treat for the tourists, rather than a form of expression, joy, and relaxation that every New Yorker deserves. I am grateful for Under the Radar’s generosity and their work to share the experience of live theater citywide and am ready to build upon these efforts to make art accessible and affordable across our five boroughs.” - @nycmayor
Mayor Mamdani and the Under the Radar Festival (@utrfest) have teamed up to offer FREE tickets to this extraordinary showcase of NYC’s performing arts community. In our city, art is for everyone.
