ok headcanon in the canon universe except yuuri isnāt a figure skater but...
an artist who (like in canon) is viktorās biggest fan. He runs a successful fan account and creates banners and artwork of Viktor and his programmes, and it gets the attention of viktorās publicity guy and heās like hey good publicity! viktor come meet this fan and stuff and take some pictures, and viktor is all for it because heās used to doing stuff like that.
DONāT GET HIM WRONG
he loves his fans but heās just so tired after being in the industry for like 203820493 years. some ppl make use of him and some ppl arenāt sincere, and so many people say they love him and seem to worship the ground he walks on but heās still left feeling alone after it all and heās so sick and tired of itĀ but he tries his best to treat all his fans nicely partially because he's nice and partially because management tells him to (i mean when youāre as huge as viktor youāre practically a BRAND)
and so he goes to meet yuuri and heās already put on his sweet polite facade and got the whole āthank you so much for being my fan!ā line ready and he never actually LOOKED at the art yuuri drew for him until he met him when yuuri brought this giant ass oil painting to gift viktor because heās such a fan and viktor sees it and...
itās like yuuri sees right through him. in his art he doesnāt draw viktor all magnificent but instead, almost... sad? itās a piece based on one of his programme, and this programme was something viktor poured his sorrow and his frustrations into and yet everyone called it BEAUTIFUL and a DISPLAY OF HIS LOVE and viktor finds himself so so so UN-understood. So when he sees yuuriās piece, he finds that it hits so close to home and he canāt handle it and heās intrigued.
like WHAT DOES HE KNOW ABOUT ME?????
and so he warms up to yuuri immediately, and they chat and yuuri mentions casually that heās trying to build up his portfolio but yāknow heās still looking for the perfect subject. he wants to try live painting but no one really caught his eye yet and viktor is like HEY DAWG WHAT ABOUT ME?Ā
and yuuri is like sh00k and of course he says yes, and viktorās pubs team thinks that itās an amazing PR stunt by viktor, but viktor just wants to get to know the one person who seems to understand him, who seems to see through all the glitz and the glamour,
and yuuri just wants to get to know viktor. not Viktor Nikiforov, not The Living Legend, but viktor, the one that inspires him to paint.Ā

Remember to smile. Remember to thank them for their support. Remember, remember, remember.
Shut up, is what Viktor wants to say, but he knows better than to do that. Viktor Nikiforov is always polite, always welcoming, and he would certainly never say anything rude. Especially not in front of management. Heād have to sit through a lot of nagging otherwise, and Viktor hates nagging.
And so he smiles.
He pulls the corners of his lips upwards, into a dazzling cover-worthy grin, and wills the happiness to show on his face. His eyes crinkled at the sides, and his brows lift up ever so slightly. Viktor is great at many things, and acting appears to be one of them.
His publicity manager scurries beside him, hurriedly telling him what he needs to do.
Take pictures, shake hands, a few hugs here and there, done. The same as always. Though this time, it is just one fan, instead of a whole bunch of them at once.
Heāll be bringing you a gift. Make sure to pose for a picture when he passes it to you. Itās special.
Special? Viktor asks, finally paying some attention to the words around him. Heās never had to take a picture with a fanās gift before.
Heās an artist. He has quite a big following online. Heās going to gift you with a painting of you, heās your biggest fan.
Oh.
A biggest fan. He has a lot of those. And though Viktor is thankful for their support (truly thankful, he thinks; not just because his management tells him to be, but because he should be), it feels like everyone isnāt really looking at him. They want Viktor Nikiforov, theyāre his fans, and Viktor is tired of pretending to be him for over half his life. Heās thankful, but thankful in the same way he is when the official congratulates him for winning a gold medal. A āthank youā kind of thankful.
-
Whatās that? Viktor asks. His eyes are pointed towards a flimsy piece of paper that fell out of a well-used leather sketchbook, and not the painting on the 36 by 48 canvas. That painting, well, itās pretty. But itās a pretty painting of Viktorās Stammi Vicino, and Viktor doesnāt like to think about that programme.
Itās a programme for the fans, his manager had said. Itās his way of asking them to stay by his side, to support him forever.
Shut up, was what Viktor had wanted to say. Itās a programme for me. Itās my programme.
But Viktor had known better than to say that, and so, he smiled. Ā
This, Viktor clarifies, reaching forward to snatch the paper from the black-haired boy. As he does so, he can almost feel his managerās sharp gaze on him, reminding him to watch his actions.
Ohā um, itās just a lousy sketch. Itās really bad, I don- please donāt look at it, says the boy. Yuuri, is what Viktor remembers him introducing himself as. Yuuriās hands fly forward to grasp at the edges of the paper, but Viktor has it out of his reach easily, gazing intensely at the rough lines of pencil against paper.
Itās ugly, Viktor says, and his managerās jaw drops. Viktor Nikiforov would never say something like that. But Viktor would.
This time, he feels his managerās disapproval in the form of a sharp jab to his side, and Viktor knows that heās lucky since only pictures are being taken, no videos.
The boy flushes red, his face apologetic.
I- I was just interpreting things my own way. Iām sorryā¦
Viktorās manager rushes forward to hush the boy. He tells him that Viktorās sorry, and that itās not an ugly sketch.
But oh, it really is. Viktor scans the lines that form his figure. His Stammi Vicino outfit is sketched roughly, and so is his figure, but thatās it. The rest of the paper is covered in fierce black scribbles, almost like a dark cloud, and that cloud starts to merge with Viktorās head, forming a ghoul-like face that looks absolutely miserable.
You donāt actually look like that! I mean, it was just how I saw you, Yuuri says, before his face turns even redder. Not that I think youāre ugly! Yo-youāre beautiful.
His words echo in Viktorās mind.
It was just how I saw you. It was just how I saw you. It was just how I saw you.
Viktor gives Yuuri a smile. A real smile.
Donāt be sorry, Yuuri. Youāre completely right.
yo waddup rmb my headcanon from before LOL well i wanted to write a short little drabble so here it is!
Starring Viktor as the Prince
Yuuri as Belle
Yuri as the Clock
Chris as the Candlestick
and other characters as the other household objects. And maybe JJ as Gaston.
There was once a vain prince named Viktor who loved anything beautiful. He especially loved the winter, for everything was pure and white and cold and beautiful.
Viktorās vanity slowly took up the space in his heart, until kindness and compassion no longer had a place there.
Read more under the cut.
He turned away an ugly beggar who was really a powerful enchantress, sick of mortals and their greed, choosing to reward those who are good and punish those who are not.
The only way for the curse to be broken is for someone to truly love the beast before the ice fully melted off the frozen enchanted rose, and Viktor now believes⦠no one could ever love a beast. He falls into despair.
Viktorās former self is forgotten by all; Now the people speak of a terrifying beastā with angry, beady eyes and long sharp canines that poked out his snoutā hidden in the woods, waiting to eat little children who misbehaved.
he spends the first quarter of his sentence in anger, blaming the world for his misfortune. He is now the thing he never wanted to be, the thing he despised, for all of eternity, and he vents his rage and despair on his servants.
That rage soon turns into guilt after a few passing years. He can no longer face his servants, and he spends his life from then on even more alone than before. He can no longer bear to see himself in the mirror, so the ones that have not been shattered by him are taken away and covered in a chamber.
He resigns himself to being a beast forever, and suddenly the snow and the winter that he loved feels colder than before, and his once extravagant room feels a little roomier than before, and finally his heart which was once full of vanity feels⦠emptier than before.
He is a beast, and no one will ever love a beast.
Yuuri is a poor farmerās boy in a little village who loves to read and to skate.
But fun and leisure and a better future are things for the fortunate. When youāre not a wealthy merchantās son, you have no right to an education, and no place on the frozen lake in winter. Your place is in the barn, making sure your livestock survives the winter.
Even so, Yuuriās parents give him an hour or two Everyday to head to the townās only book keeper, and an hour more to read. When heās done helping out at home, he gets yet another hour on the ice.
The town thinks the whole thing is atrocious, but Yuuri is happy.
But one day the richer children and their parents place a barricade around the frozen lake; only those who are able to pay the exorbitant fee are let in.
They spent good money hiring someone to make sure that only people of āsimilar lineageā are mingling with their children. The normal villagers do not help; serves Yuuri right for ever thinking he could be anything but a farmerās son.
Distraught and frustrated, Yuuri runs into the woods. He isnāt doing that for no reason though. There are rumours that somewhere deep in the woods lies an abandoned castle, filled with riches and treasures, though no one has ever found it.
But somehowā and perhaps through magicā a path opens up in the forest, and another closes, and Yuuri heads down the only path he sees.
And he finds the castle.
He enters, and it is silent. The servants in their enchantedā or rather, cursedā forms stir, only to feel disappointed at the sight of a boy. Thatās not what they need. They need a girl!
Until they notice what it is he has taken. And suddenly the entire castle is up in arms, desperate to stop the boy.
Though, there isnāt a need for that, as Yuuri takes the ring back out his pocket. He canāt bring himself to take it, even if the castle has been abandoned for god knows how long.
But it is too late.
All Yuuri hears is a terrifying growl before something snags him and throws him into a dungeon.
He is frightened. He didnāt know the castle still belonged to anyone. Still, he believes that perhaps he can reason with the owner.
He asks for the owner to come into the light. Out steps Viktor, in all his monstrosity, and Yuuri is shocked by his appearance.
Viktor takes his shock for disgust, and yells at him in a moment of anger.
āYOU WILL NEVER GET TO LEAVE, THIEF.ā
Yuuri is left alone, terrified and distraught. The servants realise they cannot watch an innocent boy be trapped here, just as they have been.
Chris (the candlestick) lets him out, and they let him out sneakily, and bring him to a frozen lake. Yuuri needs to leave from there, as Viktorās room has a clear view of the path he came from.
Yuuri thanks them, and is halfway across the lake, when he hears a crack, and his own scream, before heās engulfed in a pool of soundlessness and cold.
Viktor hears the scream as well, and bolts to the lake. The servants are circled around where Yuuri fell, helpless.
Without a second thought, Viktor jumps into the cold frigid waters, and grabs the human boy.
Before Yuuri loses consciousness he sees a paw reaching out for him, and eyes filled with such concern and depth and humanity. And then everything turns dark.
When he wakes up again, he sees the high ceiling of a room in the castle. The servants tell him what happened, and he finds himself looking for the beast who saved his life.
He finds the beast sick, with a high fever. Somehow, that only makes the beast seem more human than before to Yuuri, though the eyes that Yuuri remembers seeing is proof enough.
He nurses the beast back to health, and slowly, the two bond. He learns that the beast has a name: Viktor. And the beast learns that the human boy has one too: Yuuri. And that Yuuri also loves reading as much as he does. After all, books were the only solace for Viktor in the confines of his own loneliness.
When he feels better, he takes Yuuri to his library, and Yuuri is amazed.
He learns that Yuuri also loves skating, and after a few pushes from the servants, he takes him to the frozen lake after a beautiful dinner. (cue Tale As Old As Time)
Yuuri is awed. A whole lake, just for the two of them! Yuuri is hesitant at first, afraid that the same accident will repeat, but Viktor reassures him; if he falls, Viktor will always be there to rescue him.
And as the two skate together in the night, the moonlight illuminating the area and the ice reflecting it, the servants watch on in hope.
Because though Yuuri wasnāt the girl they thought they needed, and though the two may not have realised it yet, it is clear to everyone else who sees them. Slowly but surely, theyāre falling in love.
WELL WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A SHORT AU PLOT IDEA THINGY TURNED SUPER LONG.
I just watched beauty and the beast two days ago and Iāve been DYING to do this. Am I the only one obsessed with Evermore (the beastās song)? I might just write a full length fic just to have Viktor singing that. And also, I am a huge wuss but I already teared up at the very beginning where Belleās Father was singing How Does A Moment Last Forever.
Once again, with all my AU plots, I might end up making this an actual fic, though Iām not sure since Iām still working on my original one right now! SO please do not use this (obv I donāt own BATB, so free game, but like the specific details were thought up by me!)looking bk at this a year later oH MY GOD I WAS ANNOYING LMAO FEEL FREE TO WRITE ID LOVE TO READ IT LMFAO LOOK @ ME POLICING IDEAS LMFAOOOO
Anyway, if you enjoyed this, feel free to follow me because I post loads of other content!
okay so I just saw @butleronice ās galactic!au and Iām so obsessed I HAD to write a short fic.
disclaimer because I just did a quick 10 min shit Google job and donāt actually know a lot about stars and space, but red dwarfs tend to be dimmer than other stars, but live suuuuperrrrr long (like TRILLIONS OF YEARS), while comets tend to ādie outā (naturally) after 10,000 years or so.
CUE ANGST??? This is such great material so (Hereās a short little thing bc Iām obsessed with this au)(read more below the cut)
The wait is long, so very long.
A few thousand years ago, a millennium was nothing to Yuuri. When youāve lived as long a life as he hasā and Yuuri, a red dwarf, has lived a long, loooooong timeā that measly amount passes you by in a blink of an eye.
And yet, ever since a certain comet turned up spontaneously one day, a thousand years no longer seems quick. In fact, itās slow. Heart-wrenchingly slow. A trillion years kind of slow.
And recently, the eternal wait has been even more painful than usual.
Yuuriās seen it before; the life of a comet. Itās a tale heās already sick of. Once in a while, comets like Viktor are born, and they travel across the universe, whizzing past planets and stars and all the heavenly bodies, until they reach him. They talk, they bond, they laugh, and then they say goodbye until the next time they meet.
Then one day, they just stop coming altogether.
After all, a starā a red dwarf of all thingsā will always outlive a comet. And one of the first things Yuuri has learnt is to never get attached to such fleeting lives; it just isnāt meant to be.
And yet, when it comes to Viktor, Yuuri is unreasonably, undeniably, and irrevocably bound to him.
And so, he waits. He waits in anticipation for the first couple of millenniums, and then he hits the halfway mark, and he waits with trepidation.
And now? Now, before his seventh meeting with Viktor, he waits with a sense of loss. If he could somehow, somehow, give a few trillion of his own useless years to Viktor, he would do so in a heartbeat. After all, what is the point of a long life when itās spent alone?
He holds his breath, growing dimmer as years pass without sight. And then, a flash of a beautiful blue, and heās overwhelmed with emotions, and burns with passion. He doesnāt know how much longer their dance can continue, even though he wishes itād never end. But when he watches Viktor whirl and dance and leave behind this trail of magic and beauty, he finds himself free of worries in that moment. After all, Viktor is here.
ā¦
There is a story my grandfather used to tell me about why a red dwarf star was called The Star That Grieved by so many.
A long, long time ago, before my grandfather or his grandfather or hisGrandfather was born, there was a certain red dwarf star that used to exist amidst the wide, wide universe. Now, this star wasnāt the brightest, or the biggest, or the most beautiful. But it was, however, the most peculiar, a strange existence, for one day, it seemed to awaken. What previously could never be seen with the naked eye from earth, suddenly shone with an incredible force, only to revert back to its original state after a while. From then on, once every millennium, this star would burn with such brightness that everyone would stare up at it in awe.
It stumped the scientific worldā till this day one of the greatest scientific mysteries. No one could find a logical explanation for this occurrence. And so, the mythical tale of two lovers who could only meet every millennium was born and spread far and wide; a story of forbidden lovers.
Back then, that particular star was called the Lover Star, and legends said that if a couple kissed under the blessing of that star when the mythical lovers were reunited, theyād last forever and ever and ever.
But a couple millenniums after the Lover Star first appeared, it was gone. Astronomers and couples all had the date marked down on their calendars: 2002, February 14th. That was the once in a lifetime day the star would finally show itself once more.
And yet, before the expectant gazes and cameras, it disappeared.
Of course, not completely. It was still there, if you looked with a telescope. But never again did it ever bring the same phenomenon it did every thousand years. And when the scientific world once again couldnāt find an explanation, a new tale was bornā one of tragedy and heartbreak.
So iconic was that star, that ever since then, every red dwarf that came into existence was known as The Star That Grieved.
Ahhhhh I hope I did your AU justiceeeee, @/butleronice!!! I didnāt intend on writing something this long, but itās just such a beautiful concept, and your art really does convey this⦠ethereal(???) beauty surrounding the characters⦠I read an ask where you mention it was alright to write a fic about your au so I hope this was alright with you!!!
JJ's performance in episode 11 is so crucial in helping Yuuri move forward.
So I was really surprised when JJ choked in ep 11. If there was one person who I never thought would crack, it was JJ. I expected consistency from him, so when he messed up I was SUPER shocked.
And thatās the point.
Remember this scene from the same episode where Yuuri reacts to failing his jump? After executing a near perfect performance?
This is the look of someone whoās just⦠so angry at himself for failing. Someone whoās thinking āwow youāve fucked up the year before and this year you have Viktor by your side and YOU STILL FUCK UP.ā
Yet in episode 12 thatās no longer a prominent issue. You no longer see him terrified of failure, and you can tell that watching JJ gave him the insight that he needed.
This is him realising that even the most seemingly infallible are fallible. That they can and will cave in to the pressure from time to time, and that itās okay.
And this is him realising that heās NOT a failure. That heās not some pathetic loser to everyone for messing up that jump.
And finally hereās where he finds a bit more confidence in himself and self-worth. Hereās where Yuuri realises that messing up does not undermine every other success heās had, that it does not define him. That he failed at one jump, but he also succeeded at every other, and was brilliant enough to be one of the final six.
Hereās where he realises that he failed, and that he can forgive himself for that.

Title: Colours

Rating: PG
Warnings: N/A
Summary: Street artist Katsuki Yuuri wakes up to find that his wall art has been altered by the famous Viktor Nikiforov. From there, the two get to know each other despite having never met face-to-face, for a picture speaks a thousand words.Ā
Now also on AO3 here.
Read the full one shot under the cut. (Cut doesnāt work in the original post on mobile, but WILL work once reblogged!!)
Never in his 24 years of living did Katsuki Yuuri think that heād ever even meet his inspiration, Viktor Nikiforov. After all, being a dime-a-dozen street artist in Tokyo wasnāt anywhere near being a world renowned painter, whose work fetch millions; Theyāre in the same world, yes, but so far apart nonetheless.Ā
And yet, there he stood, staring at what is undeniably Viktor Nikiforovās work, layered above his.Ā
Over the years, Yuuri had developed a habit of taking his work outside. He had wanted to work on a bigger canvas, but being a street artist didnāt guarantee him enough income to feed himself, let alone get a canvas that large, and so he took to the streets in search of a free place to start his masterpiece.Ā
From then, the streets of Tokyo became littered with his work, the walls and concrete of the town turning into his own personal portfolio ā that is, if he ever signed any of them. Despite this, they were never removed; the overwhelming support from locals and tourists alike stopped that from happening, and city officials had decided itād be good for tourism to brighten up the place.Ā
Truth is, Yuuri wasnāt confident enough to put his name on his work. Somehow, the thought of everyone knowing it was him who made those paintings scared him. If something ever went wrong, if he ever made something no one liked, everyone would know who to blame, and his already non-existent reputation would become something worse. Heād become infamous, notorious for being a terrible artist. Howād he face anyone then?Ā
But right now, none of that was important. Yuuri was having a mental meltdown, because it seemed like Viktor Nikiforov had not only seen one of his recent paintings, heād even altered the thing.Ā
Those strokes, he thought as his hands brushed the outlines. That distinct style⦠thereās no way itās not himā¦
In his mind, he knew logically that the work undoubtedly belonged to Viktor Nikiforov. As his biggest fan, Yuuri knew exactly how he painted, the details that no impersonator could mimic. It also helped that his circle of artist friends had sent a link to a news article in their group chat.Ā
VIKTOR NIKIFOROV LANDS IN JAPAN FOR āEVANESCENCEā EXHIBITIONĀ
It had to be him. Yuuri knew that his exhibition was today. Heck, he had bought tickets to it tonight, and so Viktor mustāve been here within the last day. And while Yuuri was feeling embarrassed that his idol had seen his work, he couldnāt help but focus his attention on what image laid before him.Ā
What was originally a close up painting of a tigerās eyes became so much more than that. Yuuri had intended to display both the beauty and the danger of it, and chose a vivid blue shade, flashing with ferocity. And yet, with a few strokes of his brush, Viktor NIkiforov managed to transform what now seemed like a shallow story to Yuuri into one of great depth.Ā
Reflected in the tigerās eyes was the silhouette of a human, a spear clearly depicted. Yuuriās eyes shifted to where another change had been made.Ā
THE EYES OF A PREDATOR SOLDIER
Yuuri was excited. Somehow, some way, a part of him felt like Viktor Nikiforov wouldāve done something to his other works too. After all, his closest piece was right down the street, and also⦠something in his gut told him to revisit all his old works. The thought sent tingles down his spine, it almost felt like a collaboration.Ā
As Yuuri visited more and more of his works, his smile grew wider and wider till his cheeks ached from grinning so much. Each wall made him feel all sorts of emotions, some making him go silent in thought, others touching his very core, and many making him burst out laughing. The walls told the story of his life, for whenever Ā Yuuri experienced something, he felt the need to put it down on paper ā or in this case, walls. Viktor visiting them all was like letting him see right through his facade, and him altering them was much more intimate. And yet, Yuuri didnāt really mind.Ā
In one where heād painted some crows in the sky, Viktor Nikiforov had done a playful doodle of rats sitting atop them, with dialogue to boot. Yuuri wouldāve never known that his idol had such a fun side to him had it not been for this.
In another, heād painted his poodle after its death. If he were being honest, heād never really gotten over the death of his dog. He took it hard, and the only way he ever knew to express himself was through painting, and so the same night heād gotten the bad news, he headed out to paint a portrait of his dog.Ā
R.I.P. VICCHANĀ
ā³ interesting name c:Ā
Yuuri buried his head in his hands after reading Viktorās comment. If he only knew Iād actually named it after him. He looked up again, his eyes glancing over the familiar face of his Vicchan. He wondered if Viktor had chosen to skip this one, when he noticed it at last.Ā
Vicchanās eyes were closed.Ā
Where his beloved dogās gentle chocolate eyes once were, Viktor had painted over them and redrawn them closed. The image now showed a different Makkachin, one not quite as alive, yet not quite⦠not alive. He looked somewhere in between, eyes closed gently, as if he were just in a deep sleep. Then, in a barely noticeable brown, one only a few shades darker than Vicchanās fur in the painting, heād written two words that reduced Yuuri to tears.Ā
let go.Ā
Yuuri couldnāt hold it in anymore. He burst out crying, crouching by the wall. Heād never been able to tell anyone. After all, what was he going to say? Iām sorry but itās been years and I canāt get over my dead dog and Iām an emotional wreck over it? That he sometimes laid awake wondering if Vicchan was afraid, where he was? It sounded stupid even to his own ears.Ā
After sobbing for a good twenty minutes in the streets, his tears gradually stopped, and his breathing slowly stopped hitching. He felt a strange calm, slightly different from the usual numbness that came after crying your heart out. He gazed once more at Vicchanās image, and felt like he was a step closer to coming to terms with it. It was just a peaceful slumber, just like what Vicchan loved.Ā
The sky slowly turned from a light candyfloss pink to a deep and intense red as Yuuri continued on his way.Ā
When he reached the last wall, his heart caught. This wall, this wall was one heād started when he was in a terrible place in his life. He was struggling with Vicchanās death, and struggling with the fact that he had to struggle, that heād left his hometown in Hasetsu to pursue his pipe dream of being a famous artist in Tokyo, and yet, fast forward a few years, and he wasnāt anywhere ahead of where heād started. Depressed, tired, and plain worn out, heād done what he always did: Paint.Ā
On this wall, heād drawn a figure free falling off a building. On the ground, heād drawn a black silhouette of the same figure, one that couldāve been seen as a shadow, or as heād intended, the body slumped on the ground.Ā
And yet, the shadow now had new extensions. Attached to it were wings, so large they stretched across the ground in a magnificent display. Right blow the figure was another, arms stretched out, as if reaching out to catch the falling one.Ā
Yuuri found himself in tears again. He wasnāt sure how he still had it in him to cry, but he did, though this time it was less messy. His heart wrenched in pain, yet it felt like a load had been taken off his shoulders, like heād been freed from something. On the bottom of the wall was a question.Ā
WHO ARE YOU?Ā
Yuuri wiped his remaining tears away. He wanted to give a response, wanted to answer the man whoād done so much for him with just his words and his art. He knew immediately that heād paint something. It was their language, the thing that connected them. But he didnāt know what to paint.Ā
Bzzt. Yuuri jumped when he felt the vibration in his pocket. He reached for his phone, bringing it up to read.
Yuuko: YUURI WEāRE AT THE EXHIBIT WHERE ARE YOU???Ā
Yuuri released a breath in surprised. Heād completely forgotten. He texted back a quick reply, picking up his things and rushing to the exhibition building. He knew heād find inspiration there; Viktor always inspired him.Ā
When he got there, his attention was immediately drawn to a single painting. It was the centerpiece, the main focus of the exhibition, and Yuuri could see why. It was a painting of a man, only his back showing. His hair was a familiar silver, and around him were flowers and streaks of the most vibrant and beautiful shades. Purple and red surrounded him, and the streaks looked like the wind if it had colours. Despite that, the back of the figure looked⦠small. As if it was feeling none of the warmth from the colours, as if it were⦠alone.Ā
Yuuri glanced at the plaque at the side, but there was no description, only a title.Ā
Stammi Vicino, Stay Close to Me.Ā
Yuuri felt his heart clench. His fingers itched to paint, as if all the energy in his body was flowing towards his hand and then to his finger tips, with no way to escape but through a brush. He bolted out the building, ignoring his friends calling after him. He had to paint, and he had to paint now. Before the image left his mind, before he forgets exactly what he wants to express and how to do it.Ā
He rushes towards the wall directly in front of the building. He looked around. It wasnāt a very busy street, and it was late as well. The ones whoād walk past would surely do so because they were heading to the exhibition, and they were already inside the building.Ā Perfect.Ā
He set down his bag, took out his supplies, and got to work. He started by tracing the image in his mind. A back, this time broader, stronger⦠silver hair⦠Once done, he painted streaks of purple and red, this time mixing in blues and blacks, surrounding and enveloping the figure.Ā
They say that an artistās work always tells their story. It was true for Yuuri, and something told him that it was the same for Viktor. If so, Yuuri wanted to do something for him. To show him that the bond theyād form the past few hours through an exchange of paintings and words was real, that he wasnāt alone. If a picture spoke a thousand words, Yuuri hoped with all his heart that his would speak that and so much more.Ā
Finally, he drew the wings. Great, large, magnificent wings. They were so large they couldāve reached one end of the wall to the other if they were spread, but Yuuri didnāt want that. They looked best, surrounding the figure, pulling him into an embrace.Ā
IāM HERE.Ā
Yuuri writes, and stares at his work. For the first time in a long while feels pride, and proceeds to write something heās never written before.
YUURI KATSUKI, 2017.
As he leaves, he prayed to the gods that his message would get through to Viktor, that itād help him the way Viktorās had helped him.Ā
Yuuri had intended the painting for Viktorās eyes only. He shouldāve expected it, but painting something of that scale right in front of an art exhibition building was far from inconspicuous. Within a day, the painting had blown up, and his information had been leaked to websites. Heād made it easy, after all, with his signature clearly written at the bottom.Ā
He was happy that heād gotten the recognition, but the crowds made it hard for him to revisit the painting, and harder for him to communicate with Viktor. Still, he hoped that Viktor responded, and so made his way to the painting in the middle of the night at 3AM, where he was sure no one would still be there.Ā
As he turned the corner, he saw a figure, and almost groaned out loud. Even now?
He was just about to leave when he saw the familiar side profile, and the way the manās silver hair shone under the light from the streetlamp. Viktor was silent as he gazed at the image, his face not revealing the overwhelming emotions he was feeling inside. Yuuri stayed rooted to his spot, in awe and shock. He wanted a response, but he didnāt think heād come face-to-face with the man!
āV-Viktorā¦ā He breathed out unknowingly.Ā
Seemingly not startled at all, Viktor turned towards Yuuri, and his eyes lit up in recognition. Slowly, a soft smile crept onto his face, his eyes softening into a melting pot of sapphire.Ā
āYuuri,ā he murmured,Ā āI think you and I have a lot to talk about.āĀ

On Why Viktor Was Absolutely Smitten at the Banquet
So I was rewatching YOI (as you do c;) and noticed this scene:
Seem familiar?Ā
Viktor had a very similar first proper interaction with both Yuris, and both of them had said startlingly similar things. With how much Kubo-sensei loves parallels, I donāt think this is any coincidence either.Ā
Viktor being completely enthralled by Yuri made me squeal and make inhuman noises 5AM in the morning, but I never really quite understood what exactly it was about what Yuuri had said that touched him so deeply.. until now.
What Yuri had asked of Viktor was a skating routine ā Viktor just had to choreograph it, and hand it over to Yuri. Granted, heād have to teach him, but itās simply a passing of skills and his skating expertise to someone else. What Yuuri had asked of Viktor was for him to be his coach. A coach doesnāt just teach.Ā
Yuuri had essentially said that he wanted Viktorās time and commitmentā that he wanted Viktor himself, by his side [as i type this I realise that Viktor taking Yuuriās words to mean that heās asking for him to stay by his side, would explain why Yuuri performing his routine āStay Close To Meā wouldāve been seen by Viktor as a reference and reiteration of his request at the banquet!]Ā
Yuri asked for a routine. Yuuri asked for Viktor.
GOD this anime is so beautiful and well thought out that it does THINGS TO MY HEART. .Ā
