gone are the days, they said, when independent publishing can find track or toehold in the post-industrialist consumer culture. the talent had been lured online, then left to languish, driven down by the barrage of banners and gyrating gifs. art turned inward, to suckle its big toe and contemplate renaissance.
what, it was asked, has become of maybeparade press?
it turns out the ball was in my hand all the while. after the breakout publication of Title by Cl. Sabatini, the book of poems chronicling the first dozen heavyweight champions of professional pugilism (with block prints to boot!), and William Dewey's breakaway intercontinental novel The Homeland of Pure Joy, maybeparade press was riding the crest of a mighty wave. the titans then turned to the third man, the theretofore silent partner: where stands your contribution, man of the pen and the bristol board?
it was as though my ears were deaf. the seed took no purchase. the torch was passed to me and i carelessly stored it beneath a bushel. the conflagration which is to ensue has been a year in the making, which makes me proud to announce the pending publication by maybeparade press of...
something. i'm not sure what exactly. it'll be comics, definitely. it's starting to take shape. i thought to let it take shape here. and to show how much i mean it, here's a drawing of a beautiful sunrise.
