Watching a documentary & they have a section about ants farming aphids for their waste fluids called honeydew
it's making me think of miner cybertronians farming insecticons who feed on energon veins, chewing the crystals or ore & processing them into more familiar liquid energon, then sharing it though social stomachs or excreting excess honeydew energon that the miners collect, maybe even into their own social stomachs
I feel like this is right up your street

That is so fascinating to consider under this context, fun ways to go about it!!
Especially considering the insecticons' themes of being able to process things other bots can't, wonder how it'd change things if a group of insecticons was feeding off of say Earth minerals or organic material instead
