She sometimes wonders if she should move out. She could easily give away or sell more than half the stuff in that appartment and just go anywhere. Away from Gotham. Away from New York. Far away from all thse places that hold nothing but memories of pain and loss and fear. She wonders if she would feel safer somewhere else.
She double checks the door and windows every night before bed. She looks over her shoulder every time she goes out, more out of habit than actual paranoia. She says her prayers at night for the same reason. Fear has given way to routine, and routine has always felt safer. Once again, fear lost to her.
She cannot move away. She cannot sell her things. She cannot leave, because getting used to a new place, a new city- a new way of life- would take time. Time that she doesn’t have. Time that she has already invested in learning to work with what this city and her circumstances have made of her. Time she has invested on learning how to adapt. She has lived here since she was 13, and she’s not going anywhere.
This is her home. This is her life. It has been since she moved here with her father, and it will be until she draws her last breath. She is in control. And just to prove herself that she is, she decides that, just for tonight, one window can stay open.
I want the K.

Derek needed a shower as well, they did some pretty dirty things last night that he wasn't proud of. With a groan and a twinge of pain he sat up and stumbled to the bathroom. He almost slipped in a puddle walking in, but caught himself on the handle of the shower door.
"Good morning" he mumbled sleepily, sliding the door aside and stepping in more carefully, and let his arms wrap around Raleigh's torso. He let his forehead rest against the back of his neck and kissed the nape, fingers running lazily along the dark, coarse hairs leading to his groin. "You should have woken me up. You know I love showering with you..."
