Do What You Love
I haven’t written in weeks. Here, have this drabble as the remnants of my sanity ooze out my ears.Â
Azia flew across the street, into a shop window, and down onto the ground, hit the pavement with a roll and a peel of laughter. Hope stared at her as she stood, shakily, and pushed back the tumultuous wave of hair that had come loose.
“What?” Azia laughed, still giddy, still smiling even as a blotchy bruise caused her face to swell.
“Your hair is on fire.” More laughter. Hope’s concern was dismissed with a casual wave. She rolled her eyes. There was no reasoning with Azia, not when she was like this. Hope could see her body vibrating with adrenalin, see the way she bounced from foot to foot like a toddler testing her balance before charging back into the fray.
The dragon gave another roar.
Sighing, Hope watched. There was nothing else she could do, not until Azia subdued the creature enough for her to make contact and figure out what had set it off in the first place. Hope couldn’t exactly blame Azia for taking her time—enjoying her work for once—but the mounting collateral damage was disconcerting.
There was a grinding of steel, another laugh, and a flying lamppost that only missed Hope because of the upturned car she was using for cover. Â
Yeah, they weren’t getting paid for this one.
are you gonna confess to your crush?
hmmmmmmm yes
