prompt: ‘where in the hell did you find that?’
with one giant heave you finally managed to get the box down. you wiped the back your hand against your forehead and sighed.
you had been meaning to clear out the attic for some time now, you just never found the right moment to do it. luckily, it was spring break, so you decided to stop being lazy and just get on with it.
the attic was filled with boxes of old ornaments and clothes and other miscellaneous items. you curiously opened up the one of the cardboard boxes laying there.
you smiled at the memories of the some the items you found, your old polaroid camera, an old hoodie that was way too small for you now, your old yearbook, but then your eye caught something interesting.
-
george heard a knock on the door. immediately, he turned around in his swivel chair. “yeah?” he called out.
you entered the room slowly, hoping that he wasn’t currently streaming. no, he was just playing a game on his computer. with a grin he greeted you and took off his headphones “oh, hey [y/n]!”
you walked up to him and smiled softly, you didn’t respond but only held out a small silver teddy bear. he looked at the small stuffed bear that was in your hands. he raised an eyebrow. “where in the hell did you find that?”
“i was clearing out some of the boxes in the attic, i found it one of them,” you handed it to him and he took it from you, looking down at the cute but slightly ragged stuffed bear. “do you remember that day?” you asked him
of course he did. it was your second ‘official’ date, where you dragged him to a funfair despite his complaints.
-
“get on the ride with me, please?,” you begged him with pleading eyes. you were holding his arm and ready to drag him towards it.
the fairground grew luminous against the pitch black sky, bright neon lights came from all different directions.
“nope.” he said sternly. “you won’t get me on it. rides make me feel sick,”. he answered. you only huffed, deciding that you weren’t going to overstep any boundaries, this was only your second date, after all.
“fine.” you rolled your eyes. “then i’m going to get some hot dogs,”. the air was filled mouthwatering aromas of hotdogs, it only made you crave one, “stay here while i get them,”
“shouldn’t i come with you?”
“nah it’s fine, it’s too crowded,”
george watched you disappear into the mob of people. people were bombarding almost every food station there was. he was starting to get a little nervous, thinking you were annoyed at him, maybe he should’ve gotten on that ride
you, on the other hand, were thinking about hotdogs
you started to make made your way back after about 10 minutes. you thanked the man and handed him a 5 pound note.
you made your way back to where you had left him, squinting at the myriad of vibrant colours being illuminated onto your face. but your expression twisted with confusion when you realised he wasn’t there. you looked around in a panic, where could he have possibly gone?
“[y/n]!” you heard your name. you turned around and felt yourself relax when you saw him pushing himself through the crowd.
“where did you go?” you asked him.
he didn’t respond, but only held out a small silver teddy bear. you looked down at the small stuffed bear that was in his hands, it was fluffy with two polished black eyes. “i won you a bear,”
you felt your heart beat faster in your chest, “you won me a bear?”
“yeah,” he held it out to you. “i know it’s small, but the giant ones were kinda already gone,”. you beamed at him, if you weren’t holding two hotdogs you would have grabbed his cheeks and kissed him.
“aww, well, thank you,” you told him, feeling a little flustered at the act. “it’s so cute!” you said, your face getting warmer. you handed him his hotdog, and he handed you the bear. you held it close to your chest.
you didn’t notice, but george was looking at you lovingly, watching your eyes glisten as you did so.
-
almost four years since then, and you still had the same spark in your eyes. he smiled fondly at the memories, remembering how awkward he was with you then, and how comfortable he is with you now.
he held the bear to his chest, and you looked at him lovingly.
he then glanced up at you, opening up his arms. happily, you accepted his invite and melted into his touch. there was nothing else between the two of you, just a loving silence filling the room. he kissed the crown of your forehead. you smiled, letting out a content sigh.
