It was later that same day, after you accepted the new Pediatrician job at New Amsterdam. You were exited to get to know everyone at the hospital, meet new faces and hopefully new friends.

You were going to the Psychiatric department, on arriving you saw a man you never thought you'd see again.

Y/n: Dr Frome? You said, voice full of excitement.

Iggy: Y/n? What are you doing here?

Y/n: Well, I work here. You said, showing off your scrubs.

Iggy: Wow. That's amazing. I never thought I'd see you after you did your residency, in Pediatrics and a little in Psychiatry. You certainly chose the right department, your so good with children. I'll miss not having you in my department, but you can always pop by and have a little chat. He said, as he gave you a light hug.

Y/n: I'll definitely swing by for a chat. You replied, as you hugged him. It was good to see you again Iggy, at least I know someone at the hospital.

Iggy: Good to know. Listen, I have to go I'll see you soon.

Iggy waved, as you walked away.

You were stopped by Max assistant, and was asked that you would go to his office.

Feeling strange about it, you nodded and went straight to Max office. Knocking on the door, you waited for him to open or to say you could come in.

Max: Come in.

Opening the door, you waved and walked in as you stood there as Max just looked at you.

Y/n: Why are you staring at me like that?

Max: I just wanted to see how you look in your new scrubs, and ask how your settling in.

Y/n: I'm doing fine thanks. I actually got to meet an old friend, Dr Frome.

Max: Dr Frome? How do you know Iggy?

Y/n: Um...I also studied Psychology, I became a resident and Iggy was my teacher. I studied two different department skills, and I guess I can do both.

Max: What made you chose becoming a Pediatrician?

Y/n: I guess its because, I love children so much. I decided to be a Pediatrician, also I thought about the possibility of being a Psychologist would be great. But then I thought of all the pain and problems, I'd listen to. I...I realized I'm not the type of person to do it, to listen and give advice to people who really need help. But I don't regret my decision at all. You said, as you crossed your arms over your chest.

Max: You made the right choice. And to be honest I'm glad you did, who knows we might not have worked together.

Y/n: But at least we still would have met at the store.

Max: You helping me, with the diapers and food was incredible of you. To help a stranger out like that.

Y/n: Being a Pediatrician, I know which baby formula is the best for the baby. Speaking of, you called for me.

Max: Yes. I would like to know if you'd take on Luna as your patient. I want you to be her new doctor, just in case.

Y/n: You want me to be Luna's doctor? Why?

Max: Because, I heard you were the best. He replied, grinning.

Y/n: I'll be Luna new doctor. Anything else you'd like me to do?

Max: Mm...I would really like to kiss you, but unfortunately we can't. We have to stay professional, even though it's driving me crazy not to kiss you right now.

Y/n: The feeling is mutual Dr Goodwin, but this is a workplace and the patients come first. You said, with a small smile on your face.

Max: Agreed. Dinner tonight?

Y/n: I'd love to.

Max: There is one thing you have to know, before going on a date with me.

Y/n: And what would that be Doctor?

Max: You have to know that I have a daughter, her name is Luna and if we are going to date you'll have to accept all my flaws.

Y/n: Dr Goodwin. I accept all your flaws...that's if you can accept all my flaws.

Max: I can manage a few flaws. No one's perfect. He said, as he tucked some hair behind your ear.

Y/n: Um...I...I thought we agreed to stay professional at work. That means none of this. You said, gesturing between the two of you.

Max: Sorry. Your right. Professional, purely professional.

Y/n: I should be going Max, I have a few things to do. And Iggy and I share a patient, I'm not quiet sure how but we do...so I should be going. See you tonight Max.

Max: Why can't you stay? He questioned, as he placed a kiss on your neck.

Y/n: Mm...i can't even if I want to I have to go. I'm starting my first day at work. You wouldn't want me to get fired, now do you? You wondered, as you look up at him.

Max looked down at you, giving you a sweet smile before he replied to your question.

Max: No. Although I'd love to have you here with ma all day-

Max was cut off by his phone ringing, sighing Max sat up straight picking up his phone as he walked into his room.

Shaking your head, you sat up and started fixing yourself to get to your new job.

Max: I have to go to work too. Apparently I have to sign a few things,and I have to wait for the babysitter who's been an hour late due to traffic.

Y/n: I just feel bad about me leaving. I just wish we could stay here.

Max: So do I. This has been an incredible 2 months. He said, as he hugged you from behind kissing you on your neck.

Y/n: I agree, with everything you just said. You replied, as you turned and kissed him. Mm...but I do have to go before I'm late.

Max: Fine. To be continued?

Y/n: To be continued. You smiled, as he gave you a peck on the cheek, as you waved goodbye and left.

Time Skip

You were sitting in the convrens room, waiting for Medical Director to show up. After a few minutes, in walked the Director while talking with his back to me.

Medical Director: So I see- Y/n?

Y/n: Max?

Max: Wait your the new Pediatrician Doctor?

Y/n: Of course, this is your Hospital. I should, just go a-

Max: No. You shouldn't leave this great job opportunity just because of our history. I want you to work here...you are one of the best Pediatricians in the country. So, please take this job.

Y/n: I'd love to work here, but-

Max: But nothing. What happened between us is private. And I'd like to continue this, out of the hospital.

Y/n: Max, out of the hospital?

Max: Yes. When we work, we're co-workers and when we aren't at the hospital working we still see each other. I don't want to let this slip away from me, I really like you y/n and so does Luna. Please say yes. He said, as he sat next to you.

Y/n: Okay. Where do I sign? You questioned, as you looked over the papers.

After signing the papers, Max took your hand and shook it.

Max: Now it's official. Welcome to New Amsterdam.

Max was still unconscious in the bed, I looked up from my book to see if there was any movement from him.

After a short while, he stirred making me throw my book to the side as I rushed to his.

Max: Y/n? He whispered, as his eyes fluttered open.

Y/n: I'm right here Max. I replied, as I took his hand in mine.

Max: I thought you were going to Paris.

Y/n: I was, but Sharpe called me and I came rushing here first cab I got. I said, laughing as I rubbed his hand. I...i could not, not be here when you woke up.

Max: So, you left a life in Paris, being in charge of the best hospital there, having the job you always wanted all for me? He questioned.

Y/n: Yes. If I was given the entire world, I would give that up all for you.

Max gave me a look that I couldn't describe, the look was love, compassion, mixed with something else that I couldn't explain.

Max: I'd do the same for you y/n. I love you, with all my heart...but I...everything with Luna I cant-

Y/n: I say bring it on. If I need to change diapers, feed her, dress her, take her to school when her father is working. I'll cook, clean, anything I need to make it easier on you. All because I love you, and because I want to be here for you. Only if you let m-

I was cut off, as Max kissed me. His stubble tickling my face, making me smile in the kiss. It was sweet, soft and full of love which was all I wanted. Pulling away, I looked into his beautiful orbs as he pecked my nose.

Max: I'm willing to try, if you are.

Y/n: All the way Goodwin.

Max: Great. I have one request, if that's okay.

Y/n: Let me guess, take care of Luna tonight?

Max: Please. I'd appreciate it. You can stay in my apartment, for the night. All Luna's things are there and-

Y/n: Hey Max. I'll do it. And I'll even bring her here, so that her daddy could have some time with her.

Max: Thanks.

She's a a hands on kind of writer where she takes comments and suggestions seriously. She has written quite a few Sharpwin fics like the one I posted below. I have read all of hers so far and she is constantly updating the current one or adding more constantly! So don't be afraid to message her suggestions of what you want to see Max and Helen get into and I know she will take it and put it to good use. She loves catering to her readers and she is always quick to respond to messages. I comment all the time and Almy is always so kind and creative with her works.
