Pokemon Card of the Day #2506: Max Potion (Guardians Rising)
Max Potion was one of those Items that had seen occasional reprints since its debut in Emerging Powers early in the Black & White era. While its effect was always the same, it was one of those cards that worked with specific kinds of Pokemon and the available cards around it were vital to how it worked. When used, Max Potion healed all damage from 1 of your Pokemon, but also required discarding all Energy from that Pokemon. It was like the old Pokemon Center, but didn’t affect the whole team at once.
Max Potion was best when used with Pokemon with high HP and low Energy costs. Stall decks, such as those using Hoopa and Regigigas, meant to just draw out a game as long as possible with barely any attacking. Max Potion was amazing there, as well as in the decks just before it rotated out using Lucario & Melmetal-GX. Decks that could go on the offense but needed little Energy were also good choices, including getting into some Zoroark-GX decks. While Zoroark-GX didn’t really want to lose a Double Colorless Energy, there were times where doing so and giving a good Pokemon an extra turn or two was well worth it. There was some potential with low-Energy Pokemon such as Greninja or even Zapdos as well, though their HP was lower so it didn’t always do much. If your Pokemon tended to need a lot of Energy, Max Potion was pretty pointless. Most of the Tag Teams weren’t going to make this work, for example, though the occasional Pikachu & Zekrom-GX deck would try it out due to the acceleration a second copy of the card could bring and the availability of Tapu Koko Prism Star. Those that could use it could get an extra turn or two at the least out of Max Potion, and it would be seen in a decent number of decks as a result.

Yet another commission! using my lovely new watercolor paper which is amazing! This was for my sister @headbitches, to give you a quick summary my sister and I play Pokemon tcg along with the actual Pokemon games (yes that includes Pokken) and will occasionally partake in watching the anime/movies. In short we are veteran Pokemon fans.
We went to the Pokemon worlds this year in San Francisco and it was a really fun trip! We got to trade with people, battle in fun tournaments, go spend all our money at the Pokemon center, all that fun stuff! (except Pokken because I didn't sign up early enough...) I spent two weeks hard core breeding perfect Pokemon for the tournament which was... an experience.
Anyway, when it comes to the tcg area of Pokemon my sister is much more.... competitive than I am. She has to have her deck perfect and updated at all times, so the picture above is her Pokemon deck all wrapped up into one! And for any of my fellow Pokemon tcg players you will find humor in all of the little extras that are only from Pokemon tcg online hidden in little easer eggs in this picture!
