Myrna Loy and Max Baer starred in Howard Hawk's pre-code film The Prizefighter and the Lady (1933). Max was a professional boxer and the world heavyweight champion in 1934 and 1935. He was known in his time as Madcap Maxie. He was the father of Max Baer, Jr. who would find his own fame playing the character Jethro on the TV show The Beverly Hillbillies (1962-1971).

Buddy Ebsen as Jed Clampett, the wise and kind-hearted patriarch
Irene Ryan as Granny Daisy Moses, the feisty, no-nonsense grandmother
Donna Douglas as Elly May Clampett, the beautiful, animal-loving daughter
Max Baer Jr. as Jethro Bodine, the dim-witted but well-meaning nephew
As of March 2025, Max Baer Jr., born December 4, 1937, is the sole surviving main cast member at age 87. After the passing of Donna Douglas in 2015, Baer Jr. remains the last living original Clampett, carrying on the legacy of this iconic show.
