Current lost(?) media fixation is the Cold War era antiwar artwork "The Last Washing Painting", a hyperrealist oil painting by Alan Sonneman depicting a nuclear strike on DC viewed from the Roosevelt Bridge:
Where the lost part of this comes into play is that it's been missing for 20+ years. Sonneman attempted to track it down in late aughts for a WPA exhibition but it seems it was a dead end, given there are no updates after 2010.
This all came about after reading a local subreddit discussion topic "what would you do if DC was nuked" and the comments unanimously being "die" with a few "drive toward DC to die faster" responses mixed in. And mentioning this to S.O. who then talked about the painting (incorrectly relayed to me as "The Last Washington Sunset", which I think is more haunting).
Museum displays that have a shitpost quality.
One of my favorite shibboleths is knowing exactly who's from DC by where they're standing on an escalator.
On the topic of certified nova bangers I have to bring up the Arlington Rap

going to start telling people nova is like that because most of the worlds internet traffic passes through it and the psychic energy of that much information has cognitohazardous effects
Sorry (not) for Dr. Strangeloveposting. I just watched it w/ the lads. (and am stuck considering the implication that it might be the greatest piece of media set in NOVA vis-a-vis the Pentagon War Room scenes)
