Isnāt This Great? - Lorca & Ash
Lorca gripped the controls of the stolen Klingon fighter until his knuckles whitened. It wasnāt that it tiny ship was difficult to control. It was because of the searing pain in his skull that radiated from his damaged eyes. Behind him, he could hear Tylerās rough breathing, and instead of giving him comfort to know there was one person on the damned fighter that could see clearing, he worried that heād made a mistake bringing him along.Ā
A flash of light shattered the darkness of space, and a cascade of sparks blew across the cockpit, bits and pieces of superheated plastic and transparent aluminum spattered against the right arm of his uniform.
āShit, just lost half our engines. We are not going to make it!ā he snapped back over his shoulder at Ash. āTaking us down to that planetoid. Itās got an atmosphere. Looks like it was terraformedāmaybe.ā It was rocky. The haze of atmosphere a single spot of hope against the black. āThereās a base of some kind. Itāll be full of Klingons, but thereāll be food and maybe some weapons we can use.āĀ
They didnāt have a choice. There was nowhere else to go. The fighter wouldnāt make it to another star system, and there was no calvary from Starfleet coming to rescue them. Lorca adjusted their trajectory with one hand and tightened the emergency restraints that were designed for Klingon body not a human as well as he could with the other. āBrace for impact! This is NOT going to be one of my better landings!āĀ
