I'm hyped up about all of the abortion stuff going around. So I'll share my thoughts-whatever they'er worth.Ā
The way I see it, the argument over abortion is really dumb and shouldn't be handled on the fronts of politics at all. The real argument is over the definition of life.
I think that if we all agreed a fetus was really a human it would be obvious that it had equal rights to life. As a result, we would all have a harder time with abortion.Ā
Now of course we all know there's a lot of interesting reasons for why abortion should be legal. But you gotta ask yourself-do those reasons trump this fetuses future?
In some cases you could argue that it would be in the child's best interest due to complications. Even harder, you wouldn't know the outcomes of it's life and whether it was worth having unless you actually experienced it.Ā
We also know of the other grand reason: rape. Now I know of a lot of girls that have been raped, and I could understand why they wouldn't want to have anything to do with that child's development.Ā
For both those reasons, I think ALL (republicans, democrats.... shoot, the whole world) stand behind those that are enduring through such situations. and regardless of a woman's choice to abort, I sympathize with your feelings, and can not imagine the emotions.Ā
Furthermore, I can't help but say that regardless of how wonderful it all can be, I hate science and I hate medicine. Not that we should do away with science by any means. But we've hardly possess the maturity and wisdom necessary to deal with the dark knowledge that we have obtained. Not to get started on guns, but we really are like naive children with loaded guns. And as time goes by, I know things will only get more complicated.
And speaking of maturity, and wisdom. I wish our culture wasn't so immaturely entertained by sex (yes I'm preachin to myself on that one as well). And while I know we are resolved to the ideal of freedom,Ā I wish that self control and taking ownership for decisions were moreĀ preferredĀ ideals; that we would feel free but that we would refrain fromĀ immatureĀ decisionĀ making. This to me is at the heart of the real issue and I think if we took it into a deeper consideration, issues like abortion would become a lot less complicated. It would no longer be about rights of choice and life, it would be about the best interest of that fetus that belongs to you.
I know we don't live in such a world, and if we did, while your at it, I wish all children were born without any complications and were completely intentional from the point ofĀ conceptionĀ .Ā
(I know there's other reasons and defenses)Ā
