I love Matt Smith and Karen Gillan. I love the smillan fandom and all the lovely people on tumblr. When I first watched doctor who in Primary 5, I remember fangirlling over smillan (at that time I was 11 (omg 11th doctor??? coincidence or??) and didn't know what the Internet was so I named the ship Mallan :x) and my friends couldn't understand me. 4 years later I'm still doing the same, just that now I know I'm not alone cause there are others out there. And we're all united in the world of tumblr. So here's to our favourite two idiots and the friendships they have helped us create as well. Happy Idiots Day! After a few hours of nonstop filming the whole crew were almost ready to give up, they’d been trying the same take for about 20 minutes but Karen and Matt couldn’t contain their laughter every time they were supposed to be quiet on set. The laughter was broken by Stevens voice ‘Looks like it’s one of those days, everyone take five and we’ll try this shot later when our actors have hopefully calmed down’. Suddenly Karen didn’t feel like laughing anymore, now she’d have to spend her break with Matt, she’d never felt so many butterflies in her stomach before, Matt seemed to always have this effect on her but today it wasn’t just the girly flirtatious butterflies, but the serious I really like you kind of butterflies. Of course no one could feel awkward around Matt for long and Karen soon got over her nerves when Matt started playing the awkward touch game with one of the set runners, this particular runner was having none of Matt’s silly games and nearly pushed Matt to the floor when he grabbed her hand. It was one of the funniest things Karen had seen in a while. The rest of the day managed to pass pretty quickly like usual and Karen was disappointed when the called cut on her last scene of the day, but then the nerves reappeared, she was going to have to go home and get ready for tonight, her first date with Matt.
Back at home Karen found herself speaking to herself whilst trying to pick out what to wear, ‘Come on, calm down its only Matt, and let’s face it, it’s not going to be any different from any other dinner we’ve had together, Matt will flirt and that will be all, now man up Kaz’ Her continuous thought track was broken an hour later by the sound of Matt knocking at her door, ‘Wow Kaz, you look... Amazing’.
The date was perfect Matt took her to a little café about a 10 minute walk from her flat and of course he was ever the gentleman, complimenting her clothes, laughing at her jokes and listening to her stories. Karen couldn’t help but think Matt was acting a little too nice, so they decided to go to their local pub just next to Matt’s flat and after a couple rounds of drinks they were both back to their goofy selves.
Last calls came and Matt held Karen up whilst she pushed herself against him to steady herself whilst walking up the steps to get to Matt’s flat, they fell into the door with a big thud, and a massive giggle. ‘Christ Kaz, are you okay, sorry about that, you know I gotta tell you I was so nervous about tonight, I have no idea why I mean we’ve been friends for so long, I mean..’ Matt’s voice was broken by the feel of Karen’s lips against his. They managed to pick themselves off their heap on the floor and lean against Matt’s wall without even breaking apart, Matt’s hand slid down from Karen’s cheek where it had been before and down to her chest, he started unbuttoning her shirt when Karen’s hand stopped him and put it back onto her shoulder, she pulled away from Matt just far enough to mumble ‘Not until the third date’ Followed by a little giggle. Matt didn’t mind, he’d happily take Karen on many more dates.
