It's advice he, himself, follows.
And then he goes and throws himself right in the line of fire to push Matty out of the way.
That's him acting without thinking, and the fact that he instinctually chose Matty's safety over his own really gets me.
Not often you can say someone instinctually chooses another's life over their own. Survival instincts don't usually allow that.
The thought of Matty getting hurt felt more threatening to him than his own death.
I'll never get over it.
It's not a popular movie at all but it's one of my favorites because of their relationship.
