When: March 26th Where: Cinema Paradiso, post Almost Famous. Who: @matthew-adams
Being alone, while generally miserable, had certain perks of its own. Holland found herself with endless free time, time she could fill however she saw fit. No opinions, no scheduling conflicts, nothing. Holland was free as a bird. While most of that freedom was spent stuck on the couch watching movies, Holland also dedicated the odd night to doing just the same out in public, locked in her favourite seat at Cinema Paradiso.
That night, it was for Almost Famous. Holland hadn’t seen it in years -- had never seen it on the big screen. It was an opportunity she couldn’t pass up, even though she was exhausted. Sure, part of Holland’s interest revolved around the pizza Paradiso was also serving that night, but either way, it got her out of the house. She needed that.
The movie was good. The pizza was better. Holland was more than content after two hours sitting in the dark, and more than ready to go home and sleep for a solid twelve hours. But as she collected her bag, getting ready to head for the door, Holland was stalled by a familiar head of shaggy blond hair and jacket she swore she knew.
Matthew. Of course. She should’ve guessed it. Like a moth to a flame, Matthew had come for Cameron Crowe. Predictable, even after all this time. She smiled at the nostalgia of it all, and before Holland could ask herself whether or not they were there, at the point of being friendly, she was calling out to him. “Matt!” Holland called, weaving through chairs to catch him on his way out of the theatre. “Matt,” she said again, to get his attention. Holland landed at his side, putting on her friendliest face. “Hey,” she said, out of breath. “Came to get your annual dose of young Kate Hudson?” Holland teased.
