Game art by : NightMargin So what is Oneshot anyway? It’s an RPGMaker game made by @mathewvq and @nightmargin where you guide Niko, a cat like person/creature/animal on his journey. Not many know about this game but I am here to spread more love for this game because it is that good.

What is it that made the game so special? For starters, it has unique gameplay mechanic. “unique” may turn you off already as you might think it’s just a gimmick of sorts but noot really. In this particular game, it’s a mechanic of its own. You only have Oneshot at the game. That’s it. Not spoiling it too much but to look at a perspective, you are the one who decides Niko’s future. What you do from the start till the end, will determine Niko’s future.

The storyline, albit simple, but it is done well enough that you will love the world of Oneshot itself. Every area tells a tale about something and it is up to you players to interpret and imagine what happened in the game. You’ll also understand more about Niko as you play through the game.

Graphic wise, it’s RPGmaker. No fancy smancy graphics. But the use of colour pallets definitely helped the atmosphere a hell lot. It fits well with the world and it’s surprisingly colourful despite the fact that the game may look too dark on you. This is another bonus point if you are into surreal atmosphere.

The use of sound and the songs for everything. Goodness. I cannot describe how amazing they are. Get a pair of headphones, play the game and listen to the amazing sound and the unbelieveable soundtrack that both Nightmargin and Mathewvq did are stunningly good and it gives the most freaking impact to the game itself.

This sounds more like a review but why did I like the game in the first place? To be honest, Niko. throughout the time that I played the game, Niko managed to make me love him a lot. So much that I cosplayed as him just 2 months back! Niko has his own charm, a loveable character. Something that will stick inside me deep inside. I know it sounds crazy but that is what happened.

And another thing is that the game made me cry. I played this last year thanks to a friend who introduced to me this game in the first place (And ultimately helped me in making my Niko cosplay). I felt in love with the game. I was being in the exact same situation with Niko. And by the end of the game, that particular choice I made, I couldn’t believe my eyes. I slammed my computer table in frustration and sadness and I just cried myself to sleep. That is how powerful the game is.

Recently I’ve been following on the workflow for Oneshot and when I heard that the game is going to be released for Steam, that just makes me happy again. I can finally meet Niko again. And I am more than willing to purchase 2~3 copies of the game so I can gift two of them to one, my dearest special person and my friend who introduced to me the game. Seriously I cannot wait.

My sister and I discovered a very nice brush, so of course I had to test it right away. And what better way to test it than drawing some Oneshot? B)
