ok so you guys know how a while ago i reblogged that math thing with the asymptotes and how they come close but never touch?
well i finally got an idea for it! rough plot synopsis under the cut!
so it would be a dave/john fic actually :u yeah i know you guys are all ITS NOT JOHNKAT??? DAMN
but i want to try writing davejohn really badly i love that paring and i love writing both dave and john
anyways both dave and john are single adults, about ~20ish. and they're both pretty big saps who want to wait for someone they click with. daves had too many failed relationships that only drain him because he puts in too much effort, and then grows distant later on. john, meanwhile, acts as if he's not interested in dating, but really, he's just waiting for the person he "clicks" with.
dave's best friends are terezi and jade.
john's best friends are rose, karkat, and vriska. jade and john are brother and sister, as are rose and dave. they've heard stories about each other, but they just think of each other as "my sister's friend"
thing is, they're perfect for each other, and jade and rose can see that.
so the entire fic is basically an attempt to make john and dave stop being these hyperbolas who can come close but are always on opposite sides of this invisible asymptote. rose, jade, and their various friends keep trying to pull john and dave inside the box and to the center, but it never seems to work.
basically it's going to have math as a big theme haha every relationship is going to be represented by some sort of math term
like for example a big roadblock would be dave's job. he works as a dj and he stays up late into the night dj'ing at clubs, from like 6pm to 2am. john works at a bakery, which has 9-5 hours. their jobs are the directrix to their parabolas, setting up a guideline for how they act! p is the hours they work, and their focus is the times they have to wake up at. they don't match, so they're going in opposite directions.
the whole thing is to get them to share not necessarily the same equation, but an equation that will allow them to stay on the same line!
