Mae'konda Weaver
I have been writing up the combat statistics for this creature here. They are a species of sentient fungus that have evolved over time. There's three types. Ones that appear as amanita panthera that are the warriors and produce spores that make enemies weak physically (and is used medicinally to as a muscle relaxer). Others that appear as hericium erinaceus (commonly called "lion's mane") that are the workers that gather dead vegetation for the "feeding gardens", and produce spores that heal other mycelial creatures (and is used medicinally as a disinfectant). Lastly are the ones that appear as our friend above, aminita muscaria (the "magic" mushroom) are the Weavers of the community, stitching spells together to protect the community with strong magics, producing spores that makes enemies even more susceptible to magic (and is used socially like drinking or smoking weed). I find them very adorable. I will be drawing the other two types and posting them soon.

The First Story of Materius
Materius is a world set in two realities, the Realm of Mortals intertwined with the Realm of Spirits. These two realities exist side by side, yet in the same space β one acting as the waking consciousness of the world, while the other is its "sleeping dream". In the Mortal Realm, Beings have existed upon a continent and it's surrounding islands called Pavehim, a dynamic landscape of expansive rolling hills, tall jagged mountains, interconnected seas, winding rivers, and majestic forests that hearken to a primal era. Among these mosaic vistas sit the Apmah, graveyard-like areas filled with metal standing stones that are each covered in the first language: Prima. In a few specific places across the land sit even grander monoliths, the Hakanin, massive obelisks that tower some 300 meters, each seeming to pierce low hanging clouds that touch the sky. These strange and stark structures are believed to be the homes of the once present βEldaraiβ creators, grand celestial beings β the Gods of this world and its people β themselves now long departed for the distant stars. It was the Eldarai that first bridged the gap between the Mortal and the Spirit Realms, and ever since then Beings of both worlds intermingle across the boarders and are known to each other. It was the Eldarai that also brought the ability of the Weaving Arts to the world, called "magic" to some, tapping into the Realm of Dreams and making their very will manifested in an art the peoples of Materius have named Stitching. Thus would all manner of sorcerers, wizards, witches, and conjurers be collectively referred to as Weavers and be present throughout all of the worlds history, shaping its course through their individual desires.
There are a myriad of peoples that inhabit the lands of Pavehim. Four of these are beings that resemble animals that roam the worlds, though all walk upright as anthropoids. One species is stranger still, looking like no other and sharing no traits with the animals of the world save its ability to walk upright; a species truly set apart. In the south near the unforgiving Desert Wastes lie a colossal mountain range called the Fire Peaks, a harsh landscape filled with soot, ash, and lava flows that shift among moving earth and active volcanoes. Along the steep cliff faces the saurian Famora shepherd their flocks of Ash Goats while soaking in the radiant heat of the magma warmed stones, all while avoiding the unique predators of the shifting Obsidian Crags. A uniquely spiritual people for such a dominating and unforgiving habitat, these reptilian nomads have created a peaceful life among the red pyroclastic rivers, regardless. To the islands in the east sits a large landmass known as the Verdant Lands, and within has settled the Clans of the long-eared Alona. A lagomorphic people both spirited and blessed with clever minds, the balladeers of the Drake Pines are a species wild and free. Said to be possessed at times by the Yalata spirits, both for bad or good, they are driven by ingenuity and creativity, often times dedicating their lives to the perfection of a specific study, art, or craft. Unique and inspired, these rabbit-folk are passionate in both their love and expression of life. Past the Tanshuna Sea to the northeast and into the shallows and shores of the Crown Islands settled the semi-aquatic Wakoda, beings evolved from octopus, both land and sea dwellers. Their homes lie beneath the sunken shelves of the Crown, made from the very coral that grows among the endless kelp forests. Wayfarers of Ho'o'nani, these beings travel miles around island shelves to different settlements, trading their beautiful underwater marvels and finery. A people wholly dedicated to oral tradition, they bring news and stories from far and wide wherever they go. In the northwest settled the porcine Pagoha, a massive suid-species with an appetite for adventure and battle. In the frozen Soppar Forests, the species has built a system of towns and villages interconnected by large mega-fauna trails of caribou. These people use gigantic wooden land ships, sleds pulled by these caribou to traverse the wild landscape in between their large gated settlements. Some say they are noble, others say they are nothing but bloody barbarians; whatever the case, the Pagoha are undoubtedly a hearty and lusty people. The youngest of the species of Materius are the Mata and from the moment they appeared in the heart of the Flooded Plains, the βBuildersβ dug in and took the fertile savanna as their homeland. Though the blood of no beast ran within their veins, these anthropoids were rather skilled in the use of Magic unlike any other. With it they built statues, ziggurats, and monuments to the Eldarai and aspired to reach the very stars themselves through the use of its power. Of all the peoples of Materius, it would be the Mata to shape the next steps in the course of history.
The Stone Warrior
The two crouched side by side, both wounded, the Alona Princess seriously injured, bleeding from her gut and the arm of the Pagoha Warrior already fully encased in βLiving Stoneβ, the curse slowly spreading to the rest of his body. The Pagoha Warrior cradled the Weaver in their arms, declaring their love gently for the Princess. The Alona died, declaring the same, while the Pagoha Warrior was slowly frozen in time...
I haven't posted art in some time, so I thought I'd share one of the pieces going into our next adventure mod. I'm happy with the multiple layers I played with on this one, and I love the lighting. I'm leaning more toward lineless art, and I'm going to really start diving in and exploring that. :) Let me know your thoughts.
