The Materiality Principle
“Definition: In accounting, the materiality principle expresses that a company may violate another accounting principle if the amount in question is small enough that the financial statements will not be misleading to others.”
- debitoor.com
the Materiality Principle is p much the only interesting thing I learned in my 11th Grade accounting class, as well as the only thing I remember. What It basically means is that, if one of the Generally Accepted Accounting Practices is too difficult/expensive to follow and it won’t make too much difference in the net outcome, the accountant can just say “Fuck it. Fuck this principle in particular, I am going home to account my well deserved fucking free time, because this shit is just so mother fucking immaterial I Do Not Care.” SO what this means is that even the stuffiest, most stereo typically uptight-iest of professions will throw out the rule book if they can cause fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuk that shit. And you know what?
I fukcing love it.
So it's not my intro I'm disliking, no, because I've been giving the same introductory speech for the last eight years, it's really nothing interesting.
What I dislike about introductions is that Rei has to do them, too.
Rei's not the kind of person who'd enumerate all his strengths at the drop of a hat, but he looks the part, doesn't he? When in fact he's quiet and shifty and most of the time a little bit shy, and it's wonderful that I haven't broken his quote-unquote 'fragile sensibilities' yet. Because if I did he might not like hanging around with me anymore, might not want to be roommates - roommates!! - with me anymore, and I don't know much about stuff but I do know I wouldn't want that to happen.
Anyway. What don't I like about Rei's introductions? The answer to that is actually nothing, because Rei has a way of saying everything and nothing, all at once, and when he says his carefully-chosen words everyone turns to listen.
…I know those words are carefully chosen, because I've heard him practice them: lots of times, in front of our bathroom mirror.
As it turns out, the fic that shall be written after the MakoRin+Reigisa offering I've got for iwatobiartfics is not the finale of Materiality Principle, but this so-far untitled MP related oneshot from Nagisa's POV (!) which shows some stuff from their college years, where Nagi has jealousy issues and Rei gets crowned winner of their university pageant, wearing a speedo (!!!!!!!)
Nagi's POV is a bit harder than the other guys', though. Rei's thought processes are closer to my own, which is why I tend to use his POV all the time, but Nagi's - how do I tackle writing someone whose thoughts are both lighter and more serious than Rei's? Because he uses simpler vocabulary words, but thinks to himself just about as much as Rei does…hmm. I shall figure out how to deal with him, in about a month or so…but midterms first, then finals. wish me luck, guys! Hope you don't mind the wait…
Just finished encoding a Retrouvaille AU index page, which aims to put all the seperate Retrouvaille + Materiality chapters in their proper (for the most part) chronological order.
