Detox Tea, Day 1
So the first thing I noticed about the loose tea was the smell. Super minty, super earthy, two of my least favorite things. I hate mint. If I could still use kids' toothpaste without being judged, I would. Anyway!
I loaded a teaspoon of the loose tea into the provided tea bags, and steeped it for 10 minutes as directed. I need to figure out a new method of using the given tea bags, because the tea started creeping up the bag and started to drip over the side. I guess I could just soak the whole bag, but then there comes the struggle to get the bag out. I'll figure it out.
I'm still waiting for the tea to actually cool down, but I took a little sip to figure out how minty it was. It's pretty minty, but not unbearable. The mint is the only flavor to it. I added a bit of honey for sweetness, and trust myself to be able to chug it once it cools down.Β
**EDIT**Β
Tasted significantly mintier as it cooled down and as I took bigger gulps. Kinda felt like what I'd imagine drinking Listerine would taste like. It was very uncomfortable.
Added a bit of lemon (the instructions say to add lemon and/or honey for sweetness). DON'T ADD LEMON. It was disgusting and seemed to enhance the mint. Next time I'll stick with honey. A lot of honey.
I stood by the sink and finished my tea in several big gulps. I felt slightly nauseous, but I drank some cold water and it passed. Here's to hoping the next time is better!Β
