Writing questions! I'm going to rattle off a bunch of general questions, but please feel free to pick and choose whichever ones you'd prefer to elaborate on!
When writing, how would you describe your process of writing a reply? What comes first, what does the brain find its most intrigue in when responding to a partner, when is it time to slot in the icons? Are there some attributes of the character you actively aim to display specifically through the way your text is written? Are there any facets you find it important to emphasize while writing, and how does that impact the way you write?
If you're the type to write multiple muses, does your writing style change between characters? Would you say you have a particular style of writing at all? Or are you just letting your typing take you wherever it may?
Starters, asks, plotted threads: what's your preferred method of beginning interactions? Fluff, angst, comedy: what do you find most fun? Is there a type of writing that you don't get to do very often and would like to?
ย ย ย ย HMM.
ย ย ย ย Itโs funny, because I wouldnโt say writing is a process for me as much as it is (the sound of a car rapidly driving by). I feel as if everything I write tiptoes the line between narratively coherent and stream of consciousness, lmao. But I start by setting a mood! I never write my replies on Tumblr, likeโฆ ever. Iโll usually write them using calmlywriter, then copy paste later. I canโt listen to music with lyrics while I write, otherwise it distracts me. Lofi or nothing.
ย ย ย ย I donโt think that Iโm intrigued by any one part of a reply, but the whole thing? Because of course, Iโm into all of my threads, but some grab my ADHD riddled brain more than others. Depends what Iโm in the mood for! Reaction images (icons) are last โ when Iโm writing, Iโll put โiconโ between paragraphs where I want it to go, then upload it on Tumblr.
ย ย ย ย I avoid using excessive formatting because it can hurt my eyes, so I donโt use things like fancy font, big text or whatever to accentuate. Dialogue is something I pay extra attention to, especially with sonic characters. They all have a really unique way of speaking, so I try and capture that. Especially with Sonic, because I take a lot of influence from the Japanese scripts and his voice actor, Jun'ichi Kanemaru. Obviously Iโm not typing in fluent Japanese all the time, so I try and get those unique speaking quirks he has in English instead.
ย ย ย ย In terms of things I find important to emphasize, I really just try and make my responses workable! I want my partner to be able to read my reply and go โoh yeah, I know where to go from here!โ, right? I also aim for my writing to be accessible, so I purposefully avoid anything that could be considered purple prose.
ย ย ย ย I WRITE LOTS OF MUSESโฆ TOO MANYโฆ I donโt think my writing changes much between them! Itโs still my hands and my brain creating nonsense, but with characters like Amy, I do allow myself to get a little more. Uh. Whimsical, I guess. I donโt know if I have a โstyleโ of writing. As I said, just my train of thought on paper.
ย ย ย ย Plotted threads are my bread and butter! But anything is OK for starting an interaction! Iโm happy to try anything, plenty flexible when it comes to writing. I donโt have a favorite genre to write, itโs all fun โ but thereโs not a lot of angst on my blogs these days and you know, itโs always a good time to be silly and make your muse sad. Hehe moment.
