Someone posted this to a group I belong to, listing it as the mutation “mocha.” I don’t know if that’s actually the case but we’re not here to talk about the color. We’re here to talk about conformation….. again.

When I talk about how domestic peafowl are being bred irresponsibly, THIS is what I am talking about. When I say birds are getting squat, THIS is what I mean. This bird has stumpy legs and an overly deep chest and short body (some of that will be fluff given we’re going into winter but even winter fluff does not account for how barrel-chested this bird is, nor how short he is from chest to rump). He has a short, stumpy neck. And he holds his body poorly, with his rump pointed at the ground so that his train drags on the end.
