On August 7th I finished the first draft of Masterpiece. Quietly. In my room. There was no fanfare, no tears, no joyous celebration. Three years of hard work and no celebration from anyone in my life other than a simple "We are proud of you."
What's next is eager editing and monstrous rereading. My friends, thank you so much for your support and eager waiting. Know that it will all be over very soon. I am happy to know that you will be reading about Glen and his many adventures very soon.

About
A series that follows Glen, the vampire heir to the Sunniva kindred, after he returns from the Tiletsu Clan a broken and different person. Battling against the traumatic memories of his centuries long past, the impatience of his immortal kind, and the temper of a demon lord, Glen finds that the choices he made when he was barely immortal are coming back to haunt him and threaten the very existence of vampires altogether. Are vampires worth saving? If vampires are ultimately more dangerous and powerful humans, is humanity worth protecting?
Read below to see a breakdown of the three most important characters in Masterpiece.

Glen
"Just call me whatever you like."
Just so we're not all confused, I think we should call him Glen. Lovingly nicknamed The Stupid Sexy Vampire on this blog, Glen is the heir to the Sunniva kindred and the main character in this series. He's a lovable, funny, and charming guy that is haunted by his past decisions and the deaths of his friends and family. The whole package, really.

A fearless human psychiatrist that is fiercely dedicated to his patients, both human and otherwise, that no one wants for an enemy. Hiding in plain sight, Vlad seems to be able to figure out anything that catches his interest. When he is mistaken for someone he is not, Glen and Vlad's paths cross and are interconnected throughout the rest of the series. Someone else as well dressed and handsome as Vlad, who knew?

I do have sensitivity writers for Masterpiece and my other projects since many of my characters are LGBT. Currently, I have sensitivity checkers to look over non-binary characters, trans (FtM) characters, twins, and sapphic characters. If you'd like to help, please feel free to ask!
I never follow the rules, so here is more than a line. From Masterpiece, as always:
If it ever rained when he was with her, it did not matter because whenever he was with her there was sunshine in her hair and moonlight on her skin. If it was ever cold when he was with her, it did not matter because whenever he was with her there was warmth in her embrace. If he was ever hungry or poor, it did not matter because whenever he was with her there was honey-gold in her eyes.
Maria completed him in every way and without her, Glen had no soul.

Thank you @mthollowell-writes for the awesome tag here!
I have already answered this if it was for the three main characters of Masterpiece. If you'd like to know what the main cast of Masterpiece would do to help me get through writers block, you can read that here! However, there are many other characters in the story and I'd love to explore them.
Julien would literally throw a book at me from across the room and tell me to find inspiration somewhere if we were alone. If there were other people in the room, I'd like to think he'd pick a book off of the shelf and hand it to me. I'd tell him "You know, I've read that book a million times." And he'd just smile behind his scarf and point to his nose.
Silvia would sit at a table with me, pen and paper in hand, and we'd have a long chat about everything until we worked through my writers block. She'd talk to me about all of the shitty romance books she's read, try to convince me that my book just needs a little more romance, and eventually I'd have a bright idea and the writers block would be all over even though I won't be adding any more romance to Masterpiece at all. (I love her)
Finch would tell me to delete my book in a fit of rage and then write it all over again. "If you love your book so much, why can't you write it again????" He's an idiot. Do not do that.
Robin would snap at him for being a turd and tell me to write anything and everything until something sticks, like I've been doing. "Don't give up on something you love more than anything!" Robin is also an idiot and I don't reccomend anyone else do this unless it works for you. It is a total time sink and is why I have over a thousand pages of discarded Masterpiece related nonsense. But it works for me, so maybe Robin isn't so stupid after all.
Gently tagging my favorite people once again: @doublegoblin (I am always going to tag you, okay?) @veetvoojagigthemagnificent @poetinprose @goldxdarkness @m-r-levine @gummybugg @pinkchaosstories Please don't feel pressured and let me know if you'd like for me to quit tagging you <3
Thank you @sparrow-orion-writes for tagging me HERE. I really appreciate it!
Oh, I got distracted and wanted to write some things about Glen, The Stupid Sexy Vampire, but in the past. I admit, I needed a break from looking at Masterpiece for a year straight in one shape or another. But don't worry, I'm still working on the series!
Excerpt from The Fastest Man Dead or Alive
“Now you listen to me, Willow,.” The ginger started, flashing Willow a childlike smile before trying to suppress an excited giggle. “Even if you think it’s silly you have to pretend to take this seriously.”
“Silly?” Willow smirked, holding out his hand for the box. The ginger pulled the box away from Willow so the vampire couldn’t snatch it away from him and the movement made Willow throw him a dirty look before continuing to talk to him through his teeth.. “But nothing you ever do is silly, Charlie.”
Charlie rolled his bright brown eyes before looking over the box, carefully cradled in both of his pale freckled hands, rubbing his thumb over the cardboard. He cocked his head to the side as he continued smiling. Willow was entranced by the box, his curiosity consuming him. It had been nearly a decade since anyone had given him a present, anything at all, and if anything consumed Willow more than anything else it was a damned secret that concerned him.

For my first trick, I will attempt to charm two new mutuals @mthollowell-writes @palebdot and some cool people I've admired for a while @pinkchaosstories and @veetvoojagigthemagnificent into playing this tag game with me! (Please, please, please let me know if you'd like for me to refrain from tagging you in the future.)
Rules: give us your characters' names and definitions and vote whether or not they fit the meaning.
As always, let's take a look into Masterpiece. We'll be taking a look at Glen, Ska, and Vladimir below the read more.
Vladimir Vitaly Hayes
Vladimir is a masculine name of Slavic origin, meaning “to rule with greatness,” “peaceful ruler,” and “ruler of the world.” Vladimir comes from the Old Church Slavonic name Volodiměrŭ and is incredibly popular throughout Slavic and Russian-speaking countries.
I picked Vlad as his name because I wanted to put a joke in my book. He actually has quite a temper, so I doubt he'd be a peaceful ruler at all. So far, 2/10.
Vitaly is a masculine name of Latin, Russian, and Ukrainian origins. Coming from the Late Latin name Vitalis, it translates to “life-giving” or “vital.”
Vlad is very much vital to the story and he does help people (vampires included) get better control over their mental health and, therefore, their lives. Honestly, a perfect name if I say so myself. 8/10.
Hayes is a gender-neutral name with British origin meaning “hedged area”.
I don't even know what to say.
Ska
Slavic. "spirit or soul"
It is also a music genre that originated in Jamaica during the 1950's, which I did not know when I named him that. I love this name for him and I also hate it. However, he's my spouse's favorite character and he loves the name so I'm cheating and giving him a higher vote than he deserves. 7/10.
Glen
The name Glen is both a boy's name and a girl's name of Scottish origin meaning "a narrow valley".
I actually think Glen is a horrible vampire name, which is exactly why he is named Glen in the first place. When I post the first chapter of Masterpiece soon, make sure you read it carefully and you'll see what I mean. Most of Glen's aliases are nature themed names, so this fits the bill. So 10/10. Horrible vampire name for anyone else besides this stupid sexy dumbass.
(Yes, I typically look up what names mean but I apparently decided to drop every ball on the basketball field with Vlad and Ska)
That's all I want to brag about today! Thank you for reading!
Thank you, as always, @doublegoblin for the tag! I already answered this as if my spouse saw me at my grave but didn't recognize me. Anyone who is interested can read that here~
Rules: You visit your own grave and someone asks "did you know them?" What's your answer? Tell us what your OC/s would say to this, bonus points if it's in their voice/a mini snippet
I actually don't understand the prompt when it comes to OCs. So I'm taking it as my OC is talking about their own grave, instead of mine. Though I do think Glen, Ska, and Vlad would have such interesting things to say. If you'd like to read that, let me know!
Just doing Glen today because what I wrote is kind of long. Sorry! Let me know if you'd like more!
Glen
There was a small crowd at the willow tree. His body unburied, like all vampires, taken by Carrion to places only Glen knew and wouldn't share. At the head of the crowd was Victoria, her fiery hair in a messy and frizzy bun on her head, her sleek frame adorned in a black dress that reflected purple and green like an oil slick as she moved. Silvia, for the first time Glen had ever seen her, was wearing a black pantsuit and he missed her yellow sundresses almost as much as he'd missed her. Silvia's hair was pulled back by a hairband, sunlight against the sandy color of her skin, soiled by long streaks of silver tears.
Glen had ruined beauty when he'd died, again, and he knew it but there was nothing he could do about it. This was his job, his goal, to feign his death to everyone so he could defeat The [redacted], return a terrible hero, and apologize over and over and over again, just like with Maria. Glen looked over at the row of graves across from his own, out of the shadow of the willow, the weathered stones glistening purple and pink from a sleepy sun.
"Did you know him?" That voice, that slight accent, that condescending who-the-fuck-are-you. Glen turned to look at him, Julien, covered head to toe in the creepiest outfit to keep him sheltered from the sun.
"Oh, I dated him once." Glen teased, except...he couldn't be teasing if he wasn't himself. Could he? He prepared himself for Julien's back sass. Instead, he heard Julien's voice break, a small sob that couldn't be contained, before Julien put his head in his hands and started crying quietly.
"Me too." Julien whispered, taking off his sunglasses and pulling off his scarf. Right as his face was free, his dark eyes widened as he snapped his head to look at him. Only, by the time Julien had smelled him, Glen was long gone.
On mobile so i can't link but from the oc ask game. Pick a boi(gender neutral) to fill in the blanks about
4 Characters fav rec activity
13 oc honeymoon where?
21 Oc hobbies?
I am desperately trying to not drone on and on about Glen. I can't help it. I find him delightfully adorable, stupid, and a true apprentice to the Rizzard of Oz. He's very hard for me not gush about. But when I got this notification, I looked over a list of everything I have posted concerning Masterpiece and realized I actually have talked about Glen and Vlad pretty evenly, but have left my OC Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive pretty unspoken. So Ska it is!
4. This question honestly bamboozled the fuck out of me because trying to figure out the difference between a recreational activity and a hobby was very difficult (the internet was no help) and caused a great argument to emerge in my household when I asked for help. Gold star for causing chaos in my house: ⭐
Every once in a while, when he's not busy, Ska likes to stargaze and mourn the stars he can no longer see due to light pollution obscuring things. It's one of those things he rarely goes out of his way for and just randomly does it until he finds something worth distracting him, like Glen's nonsense.
13. I know I'm the writer of my story, which means I have created the entire world that these OCs live in. This also means that because vampires are what I say they are, demons and fair folk are how I portray them, I should know everything about them. But since I've changed what demons and fair folk inherently are...that makes figuring that out a little difficult. Where do demons go on honeymoon? Do they get married? Are these people just together because "this one bothers me so much less than the others?". Another star for bamboozling me and giving me something to think about for more worldbuilding: ⭐
Though if I pretend that at least Ska would get married, I hope his husband would take him to some sort of giant beautiful garden so he could look at all of the pretty plants that only bloom at night.
21. You will not bamboozle me again, because I have this one in cannon already.
Ska was inspired by my spouse, so I gave them the same hobby because it cracks me up that a teddy bear like my spouse would have the same hobby as a dark, foreboding, anxiety-inducing demon dude. Ska has many gardens, all over his field of influence, that he tends to during the day when his family leaves him alone. He's not very good at it, in fact his gardens are really pathetic considering who he is, but he enjoys it and that's what really matters.
(Yes, my spouse is, just barely, a better gardener. This fact brings my spouse great joy. I don't have the heart to tell either one of them that outside influences are what keeps their plants alive.)
Thank you for asking and giving me the opportunity to shed a crumb of light on Ska. I look forward to explaining how I have changed how demons, fair folk, and vampires work in my world another time. And thank everyone else for reading, I hope I get more asks and tag games soon!
