@master-of-za-warudo asked:
who was his father? if you asked giorno’s mother, her words were vague —- handsome, charming, tall. all typical for the intoxicated brain of an addicted woman, whose memories blurred together whenever stimulants affected her; unfortunately for giorno, this has been most of her life. the only proof she provided for his existence was the photo he kept with him at all times, the name “dio” scribbled roughly on the back. it was poorly lit, leaving many of his father’s defining features hidden behind shadow. giorno still remembered the day she handed this to him … and how he stared for hours.
who was his father? if you asked giorno, he was the subject of many somber fantasies. whenever his step-father punished him for daring to exist too close to him by burning and hitting and striking, giorno retreated into a vivid fantasy. one where dio was there for him. one where the man he never knew could be the father he wanted, the father he needed. as a child, this is what kept him from running away. maybe, little giorno thought, maybe if i stay here, he might come and take me away.
this never happened. despite that, his fondness for the man never quite left. his previous fixation left his heart sore whenever the name ‘dio’ was spoken by anyone.
it was … surreal, meeting him now. truth be told, giorno was afraid. what if his expectations were wrong? what if he were as cruel as his step-father, or as neglectful as his mother? what if he were worse? the fear he felt now was worse than when he faced almost certain death; when his gaze first locked onto the terrifying eyes of king crimson.
but —- it appears to be unfounded, at least for now. as arms wrapped around giorno’s small frame and pulled him close, it was as if an avalanche of emotion overcame him. hesitant hands curled around dio’s own physique, fingers curling into his shirt. this warmth and affection was borderline unfamiliar, significant to only him; it made him feel so pathetic, so lowly. yet, as the embrace continued, giorno couldn’t keep himself from shedding a few tears onto the fabric brushing against his face. giorno’s grip tightened, growing in intensity as a decade of feelings came spilling out. no words came from him —- he wanted nothing but to hide away here, to stay safe ... to bask in this fantasy of being loved.
