She hadn’t ever come across a rare man after all her years of co-existing with her children like him. A husband who guised himself with a priest’s wardrobe, but married countless women just to keep them in this preserved state seemed utterly cruel. The first woman couldn’t comprehend such a thing and even remembered the beginnings with her husband Adam when they traced their first steps here. They mapped out the lines of the rivers, the trees, even the critters and homes where they currently reside. They couldn’t have accomplished such a thing if it weren’t without their company to each other. She wouldn’t have survived being alone, but she had to witness the fall of her husband to the gods. Eve could only weep for this man to have grown corrupted with twisted ideals that spoke for each of these women. How many were given that choice, how many did they actually express joy? Not even children were conceived with any one of them as it was part of the sacred ritual. She knew this truth, and it was that truth to question everything he committed…all the sins he committed just to obtain each wife. “It should be something you both decide, Regulus.” Caring hands would clasp together for another silent prayer, delivering some peace towards the woman he graced his hands upon. Her body now graced with a light that would sting the poor man whenever he touched her. Each one would be delivered that glow, as silent punishment for capturing them. “You are not happy even if the number has grown. For that…my heart weeps for you, my dear.”
The care in Eve’s voice never resorted to yelling, nor would she do so when delivering comfort to him. That was the danger in her abilities as the first woman who granted tranquility to anyone she approached. Perhaps some looked at the woman’s bosom with lust, others would deliver a fear the moment their sins were awakened…precisely like this man. He stood tall before all these wives of his though he couldn’t resume the control even if her proposal was a trap. There’s no way she could ever hope to repair what was lost, only grant salvation towards his soul before it was too late. She saw some semblance of desiring to cling onto life and a wish to change his ways. The conditions were rather simple enough, and all he had to do was release them. She would do the rest in restoring their consciousness and bring them to the town that wasn’t destroyed just yet. She would surrender herself to his embrace, hoping to bring some life into his heart just like before. Blue eyes resumed their gentle gaze as she noted precisely where his own traveled throughout her body. Perhaps there’s a yearning to retain his coat back again, though he would have voiced out those wishes. There’s so much she hadn’t grasped even after all these years of roaming around with her children. Abel and Cain insisted she covered up, in the hopes that no other man would touch her. The first woman merely giggled at such notions and yet…here she was, about to become the wife of this man. A smile managed to spread when thinking about them dearly and perhaps imagined Regulus would also desire such things someday. For now, she must focus on saving him from this endless cycle before he meets his demise. The world wasn’t going to be kind towards him and his sins won’t be forgiven as easily as her.
“Do you not see, my dear Regulus?”
One hand extended out to grace before the huntress wife that his eyes focused on and touched her forehead gently. That very hand would dare to rest against the man’s chest, projecting what could have happened between them. The first woman poured precisely the sentiment he received when confronting Eve though in the image of the woman he preserved. Being freed of decay, a sense of choice, and the suffering were non-existent in their current state. But she offered the actual warmth she could have provided if things were different. “They are not going to display their true beauty like this…not the same as I do. Is it not beautiful to experience this light, if they weren’t deprived of the things you’ve robbed them? Ah, I pray I can see this smile because…you certainly deserve to smile as you did in the present.” Her fingers once again grasped his with care, smiling softly when speaking these words. There wasn’t any falsehood to her words when she could see the very wife who brought him joy. Maybe she wasn’t the same, maybe it would be frightening for him, but she would do anything to protect these women. They need to be granted the freedom they deserve and to eventually pass on from this life.
The sound of his voice would bring Eve to pause briefly, taking a small step back to grant him the space he desired. Whatever turmoil he was going through would eventually be calmed when she embraced him against her bosom once more. She’d heed those outbursts as if listening to her dear Abel wept within her arms uncontrollably. The first woman certainly grew accustomed to it, which made her patience become unmatched to other women. This wasn’t submission towards a man but merely allowing him to speak, to cry, and to yell to his heart’s content until silence fell between them.
Such cries were silenced when the authority of his words would deliver her the cue to finally speak. The proposal the first woman offered would not be abandoned, later clasp her hands together with a gentle smile. Ah…it would be rather awkward to be married without any witnesses though she realized the countless wives here would do. She could witness the souls of theirs crying out to be released, her heart racing with the kind of shyness she felt during her first husband. Maybe it wasn’t the same and a chapel wasn’t surrounding them as they were naked together and told by the gods they were meant for each other. Eve couldn’t help growing excited with anticipation at this proposal, immediately standing right before him.
“I will marry you, my dear Regulus.”
Another thought clicked Eve’s head, the kind that would send her cheeks flustered. Did she not witness every wife around here with a beautiful dress before? “O-Oh, would I have to wear a dress like them? I have never wore one before but they definitely look beautiful!” Blue eyes would brim with a light that looked quite excited to have this opportunity, even if the beauty of her existence outshined everyone around her. But his own proposal did ask him to wed him right on this spot and no one else would witness their marriage. Perhaps another time the first woman could experience that moment, though she had to focus. Getting her children out of here…in one piece mattered the most. With a determined smile, she raised a hand against her bosom to emit a light that would bind them together.
“I, Eve, shall pledge to cherish your heart and become your wife in sickness and in health…and for all time, until death do us part. Our marriage shall break if any other woman, aside from myself, graces your home once again. I will only be faithful to you, my husband…Regulus Corneas. Ah…you may kiss your bride!”
