the cells | jude & dominick
@masterdominickâ:
âYou shouldnât lie to them like that.â Said Dominick in a strange, cold voice as he stopped right in front of her. He looked at her then around him, his black eyes especially dark that evening as he walked closer to her and looked. âThis event may finish soon, but I am pretty sure the headmaster will soon discover another way to torture the slaves. Or the masters. Or both what the hell. There is really no difference anymore.â He said, sliding a cigarette out of his pocket and lighting one. âBut itâs a nice gesture. Beware. you might end up on their naughty list.â He said, hinting at the guards not far away from them, before he crouched down and looked closer at her. âWhy are you⌠trying to give them comfort? Itâs just⌠a curiosity.âÂ
.
âItâs hardly a lie.â If there was anyone on the island that knew as much, it would be Jude. Having been a slave herself decades prior, and then returning to the island to teach not just once but twice - she was more intimately familiar with the comings and goings of the island than most.  âIt does end, even if the Headmaster does come up with new and creative ways to torment us. Nothing is forever.â Something Dante seemed to be reminded of at the garden party. Her smile was wry, one brow lifting.  âIâm already on their naughty list, or I wouldnât be down here and hurting. Thereâs nothing they can do to me that I havenât endured worse.â The djinn had been through it all between the island and her former Master. New and more creative punishments would likely pale to Jeremiah.  âWhy not give them comfort?â was her counter as she gently stroked the slaveâs cheek that sheâd sat down beside.  âEveryone deserves some hope, especially them.â
