How I Fell In Love With Olruggio (And Why You Should Love Him Too)
I started with the first couple anime episodes (who even is that guy in the intro)
And then read the manga and was not particularly impressed with the first 25 chapters or so. Pretty much everything we've seen in the anime so far. The snugstone is nice. I suppose there's more to him than grumpy but... Overall meh
25-39 oh so Qifrey and the girls are like his family. He cares about them WAY MORE than I initially thought. And his interactions with others at the great hall (beldy, hieheart, cops) are each showing off more variations of his personality. He absolutely can still be grumpy but he's also a sweetheart
40 what
41-58 he isn't a major player here. A few domestic moments, and showing off inventoruggio
59-62 he has an interesting perspective on Agott and Coco. And he's so encouraging with their spells. And when it's his turn at the parade he is confident and beautiful. And the way they talk about encasing the flame to make it seem dangerous even when it isn't is definitely a metaphor even if I don't fully understand it yet. (And the bonus chapter where he naps and snacks is so endearing)
63-88 there's a lot of action here, so while these chapters don't see a ton of Olruggio, he comes in clutch when you do see him. Olruggio is a man who practices what he preaches. Magic is for helping people. He is brave and confident because that's who he is. His incredible talent and skill are underutilized making contraptions and pacifying nobles. He will always jump at the chance to protect. This is where he shines, without hesitation. We also learn he's been trying to save people since he was a small child so he's maybe got a complex, but he has worked so hard to be the capable witch he is now. 89-93 oh my God. That child is broken. He is sunshine and optimistic and emotionally intelligent and helpful and pure. He's codependent with a savior complex. He's protective and brave and scared and clingy. He's the light of qifreys life. He's resourceful and self sacrificial and selfish and loving. He's a tragedy with a smile on his face.
