I just read that ask from the anon about their complaints, and honestly, it's so ridiculous 😭😭 Like, the first anon was OFFENSIVE, saying that about your work (which takes hours of effort and love, especially yours, since you've mentioned countless times how much you edit to make it perfect) is disrespectful. And just like you, I'm sure they only read it for some kind of "quick release." From the very beginning, you made it clear that it was going to be a slow burn, that ALL your stories were like that because you enjoy playing with the psychology of the characters, their developments, their relationships, EVERYTHING was said from the start (I was there when you posted it, I remember 😠). And then this other anon defends them by basically talking about "freedom of expression"? Because you enjoy feedback? That's NOT feedback, it's someone devaluing your work, and it deserved the response you gave. The fact that they can't see that just means they see it the same way as the first person. Asking for love for your novel or setting some kind of goal isn't asking too much, it's asking for the interest that any work deserves, and that doesn't give anyone the right to criticize without real reasons for what you wrote. Honestly, fuck them -in a very respectful way- (sorry, I also got offended 😭).

Thank you so much for your words, I’m glad to see most of us agree. There’s a way and place to say things, and everyone who’s been here for longer than a week knows I don’t expect everybody to follow me blindly.
Heck, I have even disagreed with Roo a couple times, and they’ve always been so respectful and thoughtful about it, there’s never been any hard feelings at all. In fact I adore Roo, they’re one of my favorite readers!
I will say though, I was taken aback—because I’ve always explicitly stated (multiple times) how slow paced my stories are. How glacially slow my slowburns are. It’s never been a secret, it’s basically its own red neon sign??? So the fact that I get asks complaining about a slow burn being slow and burning is just… baffling.
Of course, it’s totally okay to dislike slowburns. It’s okay to not have patience to wait 500k words for two characters to fall in love. That’s not the issue at all.
But being warned 5 times beforehand, and still complaining about it 100k words later is… not very bright. That’s the issue.
And lastly yeah, I agree. The goal system is something I built to manage my own issues, because I know myself and I have enough self awareness to know what I need. As I stated in the update schedule post—it’s really not something I’m receiving feedback on, so it’s not even up to debate.
Me having a update system that works for me does not mean I should just take whatever’s thrown at me.
I’m a human being first, a writer second. Let’s not forget that.
