MASSHAR | Fall into you
AN: And here I thought that I would only fic this pair after I caught up until the latest Magi chapters. But this idea has been in my mind and I really wanted to type it out. It only turned for the angst route when I was typing it out. Iâm so sad at making myself sad.
Notes: ModernAU, Soulmate AU, happy ending, mentions of child slavery, abuse, sexual harassment (almost rape) THIS STORY IS DARKER THAN WHAT I NORMALLY WRITE. THEYâRE ALL MENTIONED, NOTHING EXPLICIT OR GRAPHIC BUT STILL pls take note.
Also the normal notes: long fic, might be ooc, and not edited. AND I didnât catch up to the latest chapters, so I have no idea about their backstories and interactions and personality. Iâm sorry :(

Time waits for no man, fates cares for no broken hearts or lost smiles.
Youâre gonna catch me Youâre gonna catch if I fall down, down, down
Masrur sighed in relief, finally managing to escape the hustle and bustle and noise of students, making his way into his quiet spot behind the school, easing himself against the wall and closing his eyes, preparing for a nap.
He didnât understand why it was such a big deal, the students chattering around him, noise, laughter and whispers louder and much more irritating than usual.
âWhat do you mean âitâs not a big deal?ââ Sinbad gaped at him, voice loud, brash and yelling into his ear. The man was being surrounded by his fangirls, and Masrur gave him a pointed stare.
Iâm not the one hanging around girls and playing and dating unnecessarily. Iâm not the one doing all these when my timer isnât anywhere near zero.
But Masrur kept quiet, deciding that it was too much trouble. Not like he particularly cared, Sinbad could do whatever he wanted, and Masrur wouldnât stop him. Still, he wished that Sinbad would lay off his case.
âItâs today isnât it?â Yumaraiha had giggled as she tugged gently on his hand, flipping it over to take a look at the little timer on his wrist. Masrur watched silently as Yumaraiha sighed, rare, gentle smile on her face as she lightly traced the faint, glowing numbers barely visible and pulsing under his skin.
Then it hit Masrur. She was jealous.
The bell rang, and Yumaraiha smiled, letting go of his hand, giving his timer one last glance. âCongratulations, Masrur.â She smiled, turning to go to her own classroom, before cradling her hand close to her, sighing sadly as she read her own timer, as though as willing the numbers to run faster.
It wouldnât be until five more years until she meets her soulmate.
Masrur sighed, opting to lie down on the grass, resting his hand on his arms as his eyes flickered to his timer again.
00:10:00
He really didnât understand what was the big deal. So what if there were soulmates out there? So what if it was starting to become more common for people to marry people even before their timer had turned to zero?
So what if people fall in love even before their numbers turned to zero and faded away? The timer would eventually run out, and the numbers would eventually fade out of existence.
Masrur sincerely hoped that his significant other, whose timer mirrored the exact same numbers as his, would feel the same way. He sincerely doubted that he would be able to lavish attention and love and care and feel any sort of emotion, be it hate or affection, on to his soul mate.
He almost felt slightly sorry to whoever was destined to him.
It wasnât his fault that he couldnât love anymore.
.
(Masrur is a child slave, and is littered with bruises and cuts, dirt smeared all over him, eyes wild and feral, chained to the wall into a small, black room. Heâs never felt the texture of grass, heâs never known the sound of birds nor the harsh glare of the sun, and definitely not the wind on his skin, clean water on clean skin and breathing fresh air.
But, if anything, heâs lucky that he has someone who looks out for him, and cares for him. His eyes are wild and feral, but they soften when he hears soft footsteps coming down the prison.
âMasrur?â
Itâs a lady in her twenties, who has been sneaking food and stories of the outside into his small cell.
And every being in Masrur trusts her.
âWeâll get out of here one day, Masrur.â She tells him, hands around his, timer at a zero. Masrur has the fleeting hope that maybe, just maybe, his timer was at zero too, but the chains and cuffs were there, and he canât remove them, he canât see his timer.
âWeâll get out of here, Masrur.â She says, and presses a small kiss onto his forehead.
It was pity she didnât mean âtogetherâ.
Masrur lies on the floor, beaten and waiting. She never comes back and the five year old in him shatters completely.)

I wonât fall out of love, I wonât fall out of I wonât fall out of love, Iâll fall into you
Heâs backed into a corner, and for all his smiles and easy-going banter, Sharrkanâs terrified. Itâs dark, the wall is hard and cold underneath him and his only means of escape is being blocked by menaces.
He feels his breath quickening, sweaty palms pressed against the wall and heart thundering all over the place.
âCome on guys.â Sharrkan tries, placing an easy smile onto his face.
Except, itâs anything but easy. He feels his mask threatening to slip, and the smile thatâs supposed to help him get over his nightmares feels weird and wrong on his mouth, and his back feels too straight, his arms too weak, and his face too stiff.
âChildren are meant to be seen, not heard! Behave yourself, chin up, back straight! Place a smile on your face, why canât you just try to not be a disgrace to your father?â
Heâs trapped into a corner, back too straight, arms too weak, face too stiff.
They take a step forward, leering grins on their face and Sharrkan, who has no where else to run, is forced to take another step back into his mind, the dark recesses that should already be gone.
âCome on Sharr.â They purr, body relaxed, nothing like Sharrkanâs. Chin up, back straight, place a smile on your face.
Sharrkanâs neck is hurting, his back is breaking and his smile is slipping, running away, and then heâll be stuck, unable to smile again.
âWhy donât you play with us?â
Thereâs a grin, and a hand rests on his shoulder. Itâs heavy, itâs hot, and Sharrkan wants to chop it off.
âI heard today is your lucky day?â One of the murmurs, voice a whisper, lips near his ears and hand snaking into his shirt.
It lights a trail of ruin on Sharrkanâs skin and raises a wave of nausea in him. He struggles, but thereâs another hand on his wrist, pressing him into the wall.
They pull his wrist, nearly twisting his arm and give him a smile. âWhatâs this, ten more minutes?â Thereâs a lick, gross and disgusting and sickening, across his timer, and Sharrkan feels his head turn and eyes burn and he desperately wishes he was stronger, that it was them that was burning instead, falling and crumbling like ruins beneath his feet.
But heâs not strong, heâs six year old, with his chin up and back straight and a smile on his face.
They pull up close to him again, hands all across him, running on his skin and tugging his shirt, pinching his waist and hooking into his pants.
âS-stop it, please.â Sharrkan hates it.
âWhy? Ten more minutes right? Itâs more than enough time.â
Sharrkan can feel his hot tears, and wills the timer to run faster, he doesnât care how, as long as it goes faster.
Thereâs a chuckle, and hands again, destroying Sharrkanâs mind with every touch and makes him think nothing but hate and lies.
.
(Sharrkan is blessed. Heâs born into a good family, one with wealth and prestige, and parents that are treated like royalty.
Sharrkan supposes that he is royalty too. His motherâs teachings are strict, worthy of training a new heir for their family and lacking in love and understanding. Heâs dressed in fine clothes and shiny jewellry, his hair is praised upon, his eyes, glittering and bright, are the talk of envy, his posture, exemplary, his smile, sweet and his attitude - disciplined, obedient.
Sharrkan prefers caged, trapped.
His personality is not talked about, because that is nothing of importance.
His father approaches him one day, beckoning him into the study, where there was a very important business partner and his son waiting for them. The two fathers want to talk about business, and usher their children out, asking them to play with each other.
It becomes a common occurrence, and Sharrkan feels a little light and outside shine into his life, motherâs strict schedule for him easing a little whenever he has a chance to play with his new friend.
It doesnât matter his new friend is older, it doesnât matter they hide away to play in secret. This was Sharrkanâs only friend, and Sharrkan finally thinks that maybe, just maybe, the world is not so bad, itâs not only constructed out of business deals, business meetings, business functions, lessons on management and demonstrations and seminars. He makes Sharrkan believe that the world can include other things, maybe fun, laughter, personality, and freedom to chose.
âIâll take care of you, little brother.â
Sharrkan thinks, maybe, maybe, their timers are matched, destined, and have long hit zero when they first met, but he has a golden bracelet where his timer should be, and he canât remove it because Mother would be very angry if he did, so he doesnât know.
But itâs the next time when Sharrkanâs âtaken careâ of, and heâs lying on the floor, blood flowing out of him in rivers and tears spilling away and smile stolen, never to be returned when heâs locked in a small, dark cabinet, more trapped than he ever has been in his life and the six year old in him crumples and falls and wilts away into nothing but fear and hatred and smile-less.)
.
00:03:00
âCome on Sharrkan.â
Sharrkanâs struggling, and his fingers latch on to the window. Heâd rather fall, than stay here. Who knows, maybe heâll soar and fly and escape with his freedom.
âYouâre crazy.â They snort, grins and amusement evident on their faces as they see Sharrkan clamber onto the window. âDude, youâll fucking die from this height.â
Sharrkan doesnât really care, and to his amazement, feels stronger, as though as it was magic.
âSo be it.â
And then he falls.
.
00:01:00
Masrur wonders whoâs the poor soul thatâs destined to stay, tied for eternity, to his unfeeling soul but completely forgets the possibility of him changing for the otherâs sake, forgets that five-year-old shards can be picked up and pieced together and melded together into something better and stronger.
00:00:30
Sharrkan feels like heâs falling slowly and quickly at the same time, and wonders if he will have a smile on his face when he dies. He wonderâs who the poor soul, who has to be alone because he chose to escape everything and forgets that he can fly to freedom and that soul mates are magical, the crumpled and wilted six-year-old can grow and revive and bloom again, into something happier and free.
00:00:10
.
Sharrkan falls, and his eyes are open, hair flying behind him and he doesnât feel afraid, he canât think of anything, just feel, feel like heâs falling and flying at the same time.
Masrur sits, comfortable in his spot, body relaxed and he feels warm and contented, and he doesnât feel numb or unfeeling, just content, secure and steady.
.
00:00:00
Sharrkan falls onto Masrur.
Masrur catches Sharrkan.
.
Masrur instinctively grabs onto Sharrkan.
âItâs okay, Iâve got you.â He says softly, uncharacteristic. Yet heâs comfortable, he doesnât feel like heâs with a stranger, doesnât feel like shutting himself in like he does when heâs with strangers.
âYeah.â Sharrkan nods, breath evening out and heartbeat calming down into calm, safe beats. Itâs strange, heâs with someone whoâs stronger than him, the kind that strikes fear in him, but he feels safe, secure, and even thinks heâs being protected, not just unthreatened.
And for the first time in years, Masrur feels something inside him piece together, instincts and emotions and thoughts and something unexplainable in him join together again. He lets his heart skip a beat when he catches sight of white hair and green eyes. He lets himself feel light and airy.
And for the first time in years, Sharrkan feels something inside him come back to life, like a flower coming to bloom again after winter, a rush of emotions and comfort and being alive wrapping around him, something unexplainable being in the middle of it all. He lets out a breath, and slowly, tentatively breaks into a small smile, feel his lips moving in a foreign yet not entirely forgotten manner. He letâs himself find his smile again.
âItâs okay, Iâve got you.â
âYeah. Yeah, youâve got me.â
.
Clearing up any misunderstandings: Soulmate au where thereâs a timer on the inside of your wrist, and when it hits zero you meet your soulmate. Recently I read a fic where it became more common to marry people who were not your soulmates, but that one was where the names of your soul mate was imprinted like a tattoo on your wrist, and not a timer. Still, I tried to add a little bit of that element inside.Â
Sorry for the dark-ish story, it just came out that way when I was typing.

Sharrkan and Masrur doing the doo and Sharr accidentally moaning out "Daddy" in the middle of it
Upon pulling away, Masrur decided he liked Sharrkan like this best, spread out and wanting and needing and still taking and not just lying in wait.
I need to stop falling in love with characters and ships that lack fanart
