Engineered Accuracy: Mass Flow Meters Designed for Precision and Efficiency
Mass flow meters are essential instruments used to measure the mass flow rate of gases or liquids with high accuracy. They provide precise flow control for critical industrial and laboratory processes, ensuring stable and reliable performance even under changing environmental conditions. Unlike volumetric meters that depend on volume and can be affected by temperature or pressure variations, mass flow meters directly measure the actual mass of the medium—making them indispensable wherever consistency and precision are required.
Industries such as oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, food processing, environmental monitoring, and chemical manufacturing rely on mass flow meters to optimize efficiency, ensure safety, and maintain product quality.
At Pneucleus Technologies LLC, we specialize in high-performance gas mass flow meters designed for accuracy, reliability, and long-term operation. Our advanced instruments deliver exceptional results across diverse applications—from laboratory research to industrial automation—backed by innovative thermal sensing technology and rugged design.
How Pneucleus Mass Flow Meters Work
Pneucleus mass flow meters operate using the thermal principle of a hot-wire anemometer, a proven and highly sensitive technique for gas flow measurement.
At the core of the device is a heated wire positioned between two resistive thermal detectors (RTDs)—one located upstream and the other downstream. When no gas flow is present, heat from the wire is distributed equally to both RTDs, causing identical resistance levels.
As gas begins to flow, it cools the upstream RTD, reducing its resistance, while the downstream RTD experiences increased heating due to the deflected heat plume. The resulting difference in voltage between the two RTDs is directly proportional to the mass flow rate of the gas.
This differential signal depends on the mass, thermal conductivity, and velocity of the gas. During calibration, the meter’s anemometer output is precisely matched to a known reference flow standard, allowing the voltage differential to correspond accurately to the true mass flow rate.
To maintain stability, the hot wire is regulated at a constant temperature—160°C above ambient—ensuring consistent performance across varying environmental conditions. This method enables accurate, repeatable flow measurements independent of ambient temperature or pressure fluctuations.
