It's FINALLY TIME, ya'll...very late, but I'm feeling like writing today so to start us off:
Vanya
━✦︎ He has an affinity for fire magic, because it’s just funny that a vampire has such a nearly-suicidal relationship with fire in some way. It’s part of why he always has such extensive burn scars (and trust me, the burn scars were much worse at first, and his vanity demanded he bust ass to reduce them as much as magic would allow him to). His BG3 version is a wild magic sorcerer who plays some batshit russian roulette with his fireball casts; both his XIV and VtM version were caught in a building fire at some point that nearly killed him, and causing him to have pyrophobia for a little while. He decided to tackle that phobia via ‘exposure therapy’ (such as his XIV version learning thaumaturgy).
━✦︎ He’s ridiculously tall – 6’5”. There’s absolutely no reason to be THAT excessively tall besides ‘I thought it was funny’. Amie runs a bit tall as well, but not EXCESSIVELY so – she’s a pretty even 6’, which is tall, sure - but not ‘wtf why are you climb-able?’ tall. Vanya’s height is completely absurd, and whenever I see him in cutscenes next to NPCs it’s always a moment of ‘omg Vanya why are you like this’ even though it’s me, I’m why he’s like this.
━✦︎ The ‘mommy issues’ are kinda a given, considering Amie is his mother (well...the only mother he’s really interacted with, anyway – his birth mom he never saw again after left home). Vanya is basically a ‘trust fund baby’ – he feels tied to Amie’s purse strings, even if he actually can survive on his own (and has at points). But having that cushion of a mother whose obscenely wealthy for a constant ‘backup cushion’ for his security is a comfort he’s unwilling to give up, and Amie is fully aware of the influence her wealth and power has over him (which she does use against him, but not as much as he thinks she does – she does love her golden child, even if it’s in a twisted up way).
━✦︎ Incredibly terrified of dying. While he doesn’t have the same innate lust for power his mother does, he’s never judged her over it - simply because he can understand taking as many precautions as you can to avoid death. Considering he’s known himself to be ‘undying’ since he was pretty young (or undead, depending on perspective, but either way he’s ageless and a lot tougher to kill than the average joe). He’s had a couple close brushes with death, and all of them permanently changed his approach to things related to that close call (not always in logical ways, mind you – such as his affinity for fire despite almost dying to one – but it still altered how he saw fire forever).
━✦︎ He’s had a lot of hobbies from being ageless and all that, but settled on being an author of sorts some time ago. While what he makes isn’t best-selling, it’s popular enough he can comfortably exist off residuals while creating any new novels (ignoring that Amie covers for any instances where he can’t afford something...). He uses pen names, because his two primary genres he creates for are wildly different, and he doesn’t want them to be associated with each other. While he’d love to bask in the adoration of fans, it’s not worth the trouble that would come from his more serious fiction publications being linked to his trashy gay erotica books.
━✦︎ He’s subconsciously craving relationships that are beyond a surface level and also don’t end in him being ‘disposable’ yet again (as in, in general, not just romantic relationships). This is a bit of a problem, given how much of an unpleasant & selfish person he is once you do start interacting with him beyond surface level. He’s has ‘people pleaser’ habits because of this – doing things he otherwise wouldn’t, just so someone he kind wants to stick around maybe will, maybe will be the person who won’t toss him aside the moment he becomes an ‘inconvenience’ to their plans. This is why, even if they’re not very alike and fight quite a lot, he’s so close with his brother – the bond formed from the two of them resenting their mother and feeling wronged by her (just in different ways) is a lot different than other connections he’s had, and he knows Ril is the most likely person to not abandon him like everyone else in his life had up until then.
━✦︎ He is so very obviously Amie’s son in so many ways. Not only does he resemble her in looks, but their taste in music, literature, fashion – hell even favorite wines – are usually quite similar. And even if their tastes don’t align on something, at the very least they don’t contradict or can compliment each other in some way. Some of this is Vanya’s tendency to ‘match’ the attitudes of those he wants to be close to – re-aligning entire habits & personality aspects to ‘fit the surrounding conditions’ is normal to him, and after a while of doing those things, they stop being fake and start being who he actually is.
