The text was shot off rapidly as proved by the spelling mistakes. She texted occasionally on and off with the older monkey but practically never called her.

{➹} – HE HAD HESITATED. Torn between following the voice and simply letting it be the moment his ears had picked up on the sound. It would have been hard for him not to. Not just because of his own preference, but because it seemed so out of place there in the middle of nowhere.

In the end, his curiosity won out, and it took him less time to pinpoint the source of the sound even in such a remote location. What he hadn't expected to see was the baboon, and again came a pause before he cleared his throat to, hopefully, garner their attention.

Believe it or not! He's actually leaning in for not affection! He's like a puppy! But can you blame him?

[*Horrible Monkey Screeching*]

Oh, okay. We're doing this? This is the rant? This is the rant.

"I don't write for people to be comfortable, I write for people to feel emotions. To resonate with injustice, and sorrow, and tragedy. People are way more comfortable with happy endings because it's easy, it's comfortable, it demands less from them than stepping outside of their box and experiencing someone else's pain."

"It's lack of empathy, 's'what it is. Or, in the very least, thinking that empathy can be allotted and dished out at one's own comfort, instead of a consistent thing you consistently do. Just because you don't want to empathize doesn't mean you can just turn it off like some - I dunno, vampire? What's got a switch for that sort of thing?"

"You get it though. Empathy. Sadness. Intertwined. Important aspects of media. Mine are intense and people shy away from it, especially when they don't understand who it's about - MK got to the bottom of it and managed it, cuz he's a good kid with a good heart and even if it took him down a different road than I wanted, he still felt something. Kids these days don't wanna feel anything."

❝ Dare me ? ❞ Repeats back the dark furred monkey with a scoff. Really... So that's how this was gonna go? He thought he was being polite ( although demanding someone move from your favorite tree even though they'd been sitting there first wasn't exactly reasonable to begin with. ) He can see the cheeky look on the other monkey's face, however, and so he clicks his tongue. ❝ Fine , but don't say I didn't warn you . ❞
