A part of a spirit animal sereis I worked on a while back.
Some of my digital paintings. For years many thought (and still think) that with digital art you just "push a few buttons", but that was never the case. Digital art such as work made with Photoshop, Procreate or any other digital app takes just as much time and care as traditional art and yet doesn't seem "real" to some people. I'll admit sometimes I devalue my own digital art and I know how long it took to make some of it! I've just always wanted to hold a painting in my hands. Now with the advent of AI you can literally push a few buttons and have an amazing piece of art. It leaves me wondering how people will view digital art that was made by hand, but on a computer, in the coming years. Does the laymen care or not care anymore? If I put a print next to a painting and they were of the same image which would you value more?
Here is a process video for my sacred buffalo piece. This piece went through some major changes as early on I had a young boy "carrying" the buffalo. Eventually I cut him out as it just felt off to me. In a blink and you'll miss it moment the boy was briefly sitting on top of the buffalo. While that idea didn't stick either, I would like to explore it in another version.
The Sacred Buffalo - One of my favorite pieces from Inktober 2024. This piece and much of my Inktober work was inspired by how certain cultures decorate animals like cows or camels or horses. I wanted to give this buffalo a very mythological or spiritual sort of feeling as if this was some sort of ancient being. While I wanted to add much more detail, the nature of Inktober limited me time wise and so I did as much as I could in the time I had.
