Nigerian Railway Corporation Locomotive 211

Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) locomotive 211, the River Karaduwa, at the NRC diesel maintenance facility in Lagos, Nigeria on December 16, 2002. This 2-8-2 locomotive was constructed by the Vulcan Locomotive works in 1954.

211 was the last operational steam locomotive on the NRC and pulled excursion trains until 2003. It and two other steam engines were later transferred to an NGO who planned to build a railroad museum. As of 2007 all three had been stripped of their builder's plates and name boards by vandals.
