Hmmm that’s a really hard one to reply to, because I don’t think anyone in the Saiyuki community would go as far to creating hate tumblrs dedicated to unpopular characters? We’re all better than that! If anything, the most disliked characters are either gonna be ignored or occasionally shat upon, but I’ve never encountered actual hatred towards any character, thank god!

If we were to venture outside our little happy fandom, I would say that some of my favorites characters range from Adachi of Persona 4, Ghetsis and N Harmonia from Pokémon BW (N is pretty well-liked but there is a vocal minority against him), and Toma and Ukyo from Amnesia that are considered “problematic”, especially Toma. I clearly have a thing for problematic shitty characters, and I stand behind it proudly.

what is the worst thing you want to become canon (character death, trash-ship etc)

I want Jyoan to die mid-way through Ibun.

And I also want Ukoku to die at the end of Saiyuki.

Ok, hear me out. I clearly spend a lot of time thinking about Ibun and Jyoan, and by overthinking every little mindless detail I came to the conclusion that, if there is ever gonna be a “Battle Royale” kind of situation (as a certain illustration leads me to think), Jyoan won’t make it out alive. He’s associated with butterflies after all, and butterflies don’t last long. But I think it’s fitting with his character. Besides, he would probably be ok with the whole: “die young so you will stay beautiful forever” kind of vibe :’D

As far as Ukoku goes… just like I said, he deserves to die. Not only that, but that’s what he actually wants, even though he would’ve wanted Koumyou to kill him. Instead, it’s most  likely Genjo, his nemesis, the one who will take the honor, which may or may not sit well with him. He will definitely fight for it (and what a fight it’s going to be!), but I can imagine him at some point accepting his fate, because after all, he will be reunited with Koumyou :’) (in what I’m hoping it’s gonna be some sort of Twin Peaks-esque Black Lodge where the Sanzos are just chilling x’D But that’s a whole other headcanon…). I think it will be the proper ending for him. Not looking forward to it, but…;(

9)Most disliked character(s)? Why?I’ve said that somewhere already, but basically there isn’t one Saiyuki character I purely dislike. Even the most hated ones appear at least interesting, if not sympathetic, to me (those include the likes of Gyokumen, Li Touten, Chin'iso and Rikudo ^^’). If I really have to pick one, I’d say Zouryou, because he’s such an abusive and racist asshole and I kinda wanted Houmei to kill him ><As for other fandoms go… can I say that Eren and Mikasa are the reason I dropped SnK?? Actually, I stopped following it because I didn’t care for any of the characters and found them all so boring, but those two are the only ones I actively disliked. Snk is ok plot-wise, but the characterization pretty flawed imho and how I can feel invested in the characters dying if I don’t care for any of them (or the ones that I want dead will probably never die because they’re the fucking protagonists smh)??Also, I don’t really care for Viktor and Yuuri from YoI, but I don’t really care for YoI as a whole tbh so there’s that.

Most disliked arc? Why?Hmmm that’s a tough question… if I REALLY have to pick, I guess I have to go with the Oasis arc. NOT because I didn’t like the “Pippi” character and her relationship with Goku (which I did btw, they were super cute together ;( ), or because I didn’t like the story, it’s just because it was the time where Sanzo separated himself from the ikkou and that… kinda hurt? Not only because of his state of mind at the time (since it was right after Goku got attacked, that must’ve definitely played a role in his decision to leave the group and go with Hazel and Gat, other than to investigate on them), but also because the separation lasted so long (as in real time, while we were waiting for new chapters to come out) so that really felt like forever, even though it gave us amazing moments of growth for all parties involved. I still really like this arc, but I guess it was the hardest one to swallow just for this reason ^^

20)What is the purest ship in the fandom?Hahah speaking of which… I think Goku/Pippi is definitely one of the purest ships :‘3 I know many people don’t like it nor don’t really “see it”, but c'mon, it was Goku’s first crush, unfortunately they didn’t have the possibility of developing it further because of the very sad circumstances we all know, but they would’ve been so cute together ;( I also think Goku/Lirin would be also fun to explore and very pure, even though Lirin is maybe a little bit too young/uninterested at this point in time so perhaps in the future ;)

Also, I think that Toudai/Houmei could be considered a pure ship if one skips all the kinkiness Houmei is probably into lmao

26)Most shippable character?Ahahah as most of you replied (which made me so happy btw)… for me it’s definitely Koumyou/Houmei. The tags on AO3 speak for themselves ;) (even though I find it so funny that the one Ibun character that has had more sexual partners in fics than him is none other than Jyoan x’D And we didn’t even get a full-on Ganpuku/Jyoan fic yet ><)Another one that is pretty shippable it’s definitely Ukoku, even though most of the pairings that revolve around him are borderline dub/non-con… I guess that works if you don’t count “romantic” ships, which we all know there is only one ;)Gojyo is pretty shippable too I guess, even though I maybe ship him with 1-2 characters at max (and one of which is a pretty trashy ship so x’D)

27)Least shippable character?

I’m actually  just gonna copy Mariku and Amadriel, and go with the ones that, correct me if I’m wrong, they’ve also chosen: Konzen and Genkai.Konzen because he just seems as uninterested in sex as Sanzo but, unlike him, he doesn’t have many options for potential partners ghghgh~ and also I don’t really ship him with anyone anyways (even though I kind of like the idea of Kanzeon ravish—you know what, never mind xD)

As far as Genkai goes… I’ve wanted to address this issue for a while. As most people know, I basically ship everyone in Ibun x’D or have at least sexual/romantic headcanons for everyone BUT Genkai… and that’s due to his child-like appearance. To be honest, it kinda disturbs me to think about him in sexual situations because he looks like a child… thing is, he’s not a child, he’s a man in his 30’s, so that actually got me thinking… what if he actually has the needs of a grown man, and I just refuse to acknowledge them because of the way he looks? What if I want to THINK of him as aroace just because it’s more convenient that way? Anyways, due to the fact that he probably didn’t go through puberty, maybe he didn’t develop sexual urges at all, so yeah…
